Been an interesting, varied and often busy week. Ryan, our grandson, has been staying with us during the half term holiday.
He 's now in his second year at 6th form.....
IMG_6983.jpeg

We rocked up to do a garden makeover at a Brothers House - "Dave, can you just take up my old front lawn and put some stones down please? Just like you did on my extra parking area"
Ryan is taking down the fence...
IMG_6985.jpeg

Crappy lawn. Full of weeds and moss. Load directly onto the clay and stone subsoil
Brother Ron is supervising Ryan, Ron is an RN (retired) Chief Engineer.
Now write bloody good books Ron Sewell
Personally, I simply buy his books (and others) on Kindle and read them on my devices
Let me know if you want know more about my writer friend and his books ;)

IMG_6986.jpeg

So after stripping the old lawn and rubbish we laid some nice geotextile. Ryan's getting good at this now.
Then, tipped it on my recycle pile, before heading up the road for some 20mm stone.
As Ryan is studying geology, we had an in-depth discussion on the make up of the gravels :geek:

Job jobbed (y) "Dave, that's just what me and Sheila wanted"

Customer Care with Ryan and Mr. Makita screwing around
Best thing about this type of job it that the old Neuson goes on the tipping trailer.
This is then used for moving stuff out and then in again. :)

Later in the week we dod some fences ahead of Storm Eunice
IMG_7001.jpeg

Showed Ryan how to use the Makita SDS for 10mm fixings for the hardwood post screwed into the brickwork.
Then we used the old impact driver. Trained him to use the 'soft start' trigger.
Have you noticed how trades on site, jerk it and pulse it for some reason. Perhaps they think that they are having a wank :ROFLMAO:

Still the fences that we did stood up to Eunice. Pity that the neighbours rotten fences are now littering the area

Must remind myself, I am not a landscape garden, or a groundworker.
But WTF do a know I just operate an old digger :p

Then we finished the week with sorting out my 'job lot' of digger buckets
IMG_7010.jpeg

After breaking the weld on the grapple decided to move them on to PlantTalk guys .
My workshop is not up to serious alterations and repairs

Ryan knocked up the Excel database which I used to advertise my spare buckets on Classified.
Wow the response was phenomenal - thanks guys for the banter and support (y)

We went over to Little Baddow today to deliver a nice pair of buckets to Tim aka @Canal Navvy
This is local to us and made a nice trip out with Ryan
IMG_7068.jpeg

Tim is absolutely delighted with his new buckets
What a nice bloke. Gave us a guided tour of the Paper Mill Lock where they were working as volunteers.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Whats Ryan study's? He looks like a kean type of chap and with the amount of knowledge and guidance your giving him, i would suggest he does this full time
anyone with a broad skillset will always be able to earn a living (y)

He’s studying Geology, IT, English and psychology etc. Many of which we have used in our real world work.
But yes he could take over my line of business if he was next generation. I am coming up to retirement and he just starting out.
So it not sustainable unfortunately. But if that’s what he want to do, I recommend a modern apprenticeship, where he gets paid to learn new skills. At the moment he is focused on his exams to finish his A levels 🤓

I think you deserve a pat on the back with your approach. Help and guide, don’t force.
Whatever the direction he takes I am sure he will have that help and guidance form a wise old granddad. I hope I am able to do the same with my second generation.

So I've got a few jobs lined up for the next few weeks, but....
IMG_7192.jpeg

....it's finally caught up with me. Positive test this morning for COVID-19

Next Monday have agreed to start an interesting job down at the London Gateway site (River Thames) operating either an 8T or 22T 360 and 9T dumper. The fella is one of my 'business contacts' and I don't like letting people down. He says that it's a one day job - yeah right
He said, "Do you know anyone else who can just pop down there and operate the 360?"
Reply, "No mate all my contacts are busy!"
PM me if you want a day's play at London Gateway but I'll need convincing that you're OK :ROFLMAO:

Yep agree with that - but I was due to travel down with the labourer.
AND being responsible guy don't wanna speed the virus 😇
Latest GOV figures show that this last 7 days have seen a 52% increase
AND I feel fatigued by the end of the day - here's a clue:
IMG_7191.jpeg

BUT on a scale of 1-10, I'm on about 1.5 so I will survive. Thank goodness I'm fully jabbed 😚

I thought Putin had done away with Covid 19?
Yes his special military operations has hi jacked the news - check the gov figures for the truth 😡
Looks like we are now into herd immunity territory now 😳
Gotta be careful that Sharon don’t get it. She’s shielding for the sake of her mum 🥰
