Thing is theoretically the grid owner has a statutory right to deal with trees in there ROW.....

From what I heard the last storm brought entire sections of line down...... but I must'nt say too much in the open.
Can't just blame trees though there's a lot of poles standing out there which are rotten. A contractor told me they are short of new poles so can't replace them. Couple that with wind a trees coming down............

Sactly ..the state of the poles round here is a joke...in fact the whole BT infrastructure is 60 years beyond expiry date...
That's possibly slightly skewed...from my perspective of living at the end of several miles of balsa wood poles threaded through sycamores .
Been up several times with arb kit on to sort it...jelly crimps keeps broadband on here 🙄
One night removing a crotch dangling middle of the road in the pissing rain stood in a silage grab...watch yourself sez bill there's a few tines missing 🤦‍♂️

Do you want another FL6?

And that's for Ether, used to come in ping pong type capsules.... most MOD stuff had the option.
Blimey - you still got that old FL6 :p
Back in the day I had a1983 F6 but didn't renew my LGV licence last year
Picture 073.jpg

Flogged it on eBay about 5 years ago - it went to Shetland
Prior to this I had a session of old lorries to play with

Thanks for the info about Ether. May not bother with that if she starts OK.
This week will be recommissioning the old Gen Set and see how she runs....

Off here now as well . Only meant to be 50mph according to forecast . The equipment doesn’t take much of a blow
Maintenance of the infrastructure and trees are probably the problem?
Likewise around here we have problems when it's blowing hard, which is quite rare.
Currently keeping an eye on a pole on our feed leaning at about 15deg from vertical

Same around here with lack of maintenance on the infastructre
Trees and bushes make our road into a tunnel only cut by buses and lorries.
Then you have the grips all blocked with the water running down the road rather than entering the silted up ditches....
Love those jelly crimps - got a jar full ready for use :p

These are handy...if you need to do a "planned" disconnect..😌

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Yes I had an old Volvo F6 with a large heater in the inlet - started first time every time ;)
Been cleaning up the old thing this afternoon and after the grime was removed found this thingy....View attachment 31792
......it's got a capillary pipe going under the engine up to the inlet manifold. Any ideas how I use the little bugger?
Looks like I'll have to pour sone kind of juice into it. That button marked "Start Pilot" is some sort of plunger pump

surprised at that ? :unsure::unsure:

I'd plumb a flame thrower into the inlet manifold fed off the return lines with a good 6mm cable feeding it off a heater position Lucas ign switch ... easy enough with an 1/8" th BSP/BSG hyd flexi to feed it cherry .... bound to be a threaded boss in the inlet or a plain boss you could tap one into

BT 66B connection box...🤗
The funny thing is, if you used one, then Openreach would never know. They have got no idea where all the joint boxes are :devilish:
Along our road I know where all the joint boxes and split coupling are and frequently had to tell them when they tried to bodge a repair on the old copper cables :ROFLMAO:

pretty much the same here .... have to tell 'em where the lines run, what poles pick up what, etc. .... their maps are total crap

I make my own with a Gewiss type box, placcy back plate and some 6mm bolts for connection poles
WP_20190227_18_16_22_Pro.jpg

can get a lot of decent size cables into one o' they :giggle:(y) and make them watertight ... just use 8/10mm bolts for heavier requirements ;):oops: ...:LOL:
