Yes paving expert is the go to site for anything to do with paving and groundwork.
In fact he sends me a Christmas card, any time now. He's been my house a couple of years ago.
He also president of the bsa owners club near Manchester
Wow that’s nice to know 👍🏻
it’s surprising how well connected our members are 😎

lucky find and fix Dave .... good job too .... swirl pot lid is missing off that new unit :( .. would cause all sorts of issues with a low-ish fuel level in the tank .... those high volume flow/return pumps need plenty of fuel around 'em to keep it flowing and feeding the HP unit ;)

as said ..... bloody good job it was diesel in the tank :oops:
Thanks Gra 👍🏻
Gave up last night trying to get the locking ring on last night 🙄
SIL coming over this morning to help. Looks like I’ll have to fab a tool if brute force doesn’t work 😉

the locking rings're right lil' bar stewards Dave .... had to fab up a tool for the Golf a while ago ...... no way could i have gotten it out or back in without it ..... but was struggling through an access port in the floor of the car ...

is now in me box of 'specials' labelled up as to what it is ..... will hopefully never need it again, but never say never and don't chuck out any special tools you make ;)

at least yours is on the deck, as was the P38's when I did that one (y)... although accessible the ring took some cracking off initially

Yes I remember you doing the P38 being a Land Rover enthusiast myself 😎
That special tool for the Golf is indeed a work of art. I had visions of doing similar this morning 😬
But two large screwdrivers, a crowbar and brute force from two fellas nailed it 🤣

All done by mid morning tea ☕️ break. They have now gone Christmas 🎅 shopping 🛍 in the Insignia 😊

'S why I went looking for the pix of it this morning .... give you a bit of a clue about mine ;) rather than having to start from scratch with a creation (y)

Didn't think that I had much work on this week which suited me fine 🤪
But Mark, a very good customer, said, "Can you just sort out the rest of the oversite at Stones Green before Christmas"
IMG_6405.jpeg

A few weeks ago I'd got so far with the crushed stuff on this new barn build before running out of tome.
Then over the next few days the heavens opened
"We have pumped it out ready"
Knowing that heavy rain is forecast over the Christmas Weekend, I thought, bugger, I 'll have to get this sorted.
"Yes, of course I'll get this done for my favourite customer" :devilish:

IMG_6494.jpeg

So Wednesday morning rocked up with digger and dumper to get the job done. About -1c with ice on the puddles and top crusty 🥶

IMG_6499.jpeg

John was on the dumper. Half way through the morning, "Dave, there's oil spraying out from under neath. I thought that last load was bit dusty, then realised it was the spray"
Bugger - tipping ram hose had let go 🤬

IMG_6501.jpeg

So repairs took just over an hour after John had fetched a repayment made up hose from our local guy at Langham.
Had my lunch break early in the peace and quiet 😋

IMG_6503.jpeg

Last load going in at dusk - John had effed off by then to have a haircut 😣

IMG_6504.jpeg

So by the end of the day, I got the rest of the geotextile and crushed in place.
Bit of a bugger smoothing over the crushed mush 💩😜
Mark, popped in as I was finishing. "Great job Dave. At least it will be ready if the steels show up in January like they said they would"
"Good luck with that if the other job is anything to go by. Merry Christmas, see yer next year"

So Ryan helped me jet wash the machines yesterday and we are now all set for the Big Man to visit overnight 🎅

Merry Christmas to y'all 🎄🤶😇

Still ticking over here in NE Essex, going out to play a few days a week.......
IMG_6799.jpeg

Local job on the Golf Course, "Can you just take the turf off the 9th Tee? We need to renew the turf"
IMG_6800.jpeg

Nothing to see here, move on. While the boys worked their magic, I got the spanners out. The more observant with notice that my boom is on maximum offset. Poxy small stone under the pedal, would not come out until I waved some 19mm spanner at it :ROFLMAO:

IMG_6802.jpeg

They really did not mess about getting the job done. 26T of the black stuff added and then turfed before close of play the same day.

IMG_6803.jpeg

"While you are here, can you just clean out the ditch, put in this 6m pipe and back fill with stuff from that hump"....

IMG_6805.jpeg

I really love water in the bottom - acts as great 'spirit level' as you go....

IMG_6810.jpeg

Job jobbed by afternoon tea :coffee:🍰:)
"We'll have you back in the summer to clean out the rest of the ditch. And maybe have a look at moving that hardcore and extending the car park"
Another repeat customer in the making

Although SWMBO would not let me buy that old Ditch Witch, she has let me buy this 'new toy'

IMG_6840.jpeg

Given the seal of approval, because living in the sticks, we often get power cuts. But to me it's another 'big boys toy'

IMG_6822.jpeg

A real Barn Find for a change  My mate Jim had this covered over with a tarp in his old barn and offered it to me.
Seen here dragging it out with his MF65 :D

IMG_6829.jpeg

So not wanting to fanny about with the Nato Hitch and perished tyres, we stuck it on the Ifor
IMG_6835.jpeg

Here you go - Massey Ferguson 4 cylinder diesel engine, with a reconditioned injector pump. Just gotta identify the exact model etc.
Over the next few days, I do a bit of fettling before running it up. New fuel, filters, engine oil, flush cooling system etc :p
Do you think I ought to post the progress on this blog or the Vintage and Classic Section?.....

The good news with that is you can continue your unreliable electric supply as when the power goes down you won't get the engine started :ROFLMAO:
Tell it like it is Rory 🤣 I did wonder why there was empty can of “Easy Start” lurking under the chassis frame. But on a positive note this model has heater plugs😎. Earlier models relied on a heater in the intake 😳

properly set up and fully functional it'd be my preference .... can't beat a lungful of flame down the inlet on a cold morning ... really kicks 'em in the guts
had a York 6 pot in an old RR and that had three heaters in the manifold ..... used to leap into life and they were known as bad cold starters
healthy batteries and starter also play a big role (y)
