End of the week saw some workshop stuff and hedge cutting at the H/A :p

IMG_9429.jpeg

Time to strip down the old pole chainsaw/hedge cutter come in handy.
It was pissing out fuel and sucking air.....

IMG_9430.jpeg

....usual thing where modern petrol had turned the fuel pipes to plastercine and the grommet was leaking
All replaced with nice new ones made from Polyvinyl Chloride - supplied in a nice selection box by Amazon.
Nice new grommet changed and bingo!
Perfect - fired up quickly and not leaking any more

IMG_9431.jpeg

This is my overgrown conifer hedge . My barn on the left and neighbours horse stables on the right.
My chainlink fence is actually in the middle of what you see here!
Neighbour said about 10 years ago, "Don't worry about my side, I'll keep it trimmed back"
WTF - it is now about 3 feet over and through the chain link fence

IMG_9434.jpeg

So me and Ryan gave it a serious top haircut.
Next week we are going round to do his side of my hedge.
Was gonna use the dumper to take back to my bonfire site.....
...."Can you use a wheelbarrow because the ground is damp!"
R - "Going to take us a long time to do that then!"
So guess what we will be doing next week - think I'll cut it right back and all he'll see is brown tish :devilish:

Another busy few days this past week :p

IMG_9560.jpeg

Rocked up on Tuesday in the FOG to do a water main replacement at the Stanway Scout hut....

IMG_9561.jpeg

....and found that someone had buried very heavy pre-cast concrete panels under the car park where I wanted to dig the trench

IMG_9563.jpeg

Mr Neuson took them away on the dozer blade. Each one weighed about half a ton

IMG_9565.jpeg

Having dealt with that snag, only then I was I able to do what I do best

IMG_9566.jpeg

"Oi Denis, stop fannying around with yer phone and help me get this pipe in before lunch!"

IMG_9569.jpeg

There you go another job jobbed and off site just before 4pm :giggle:

Then Wednesday there was job for a friend on mine to move an 'effing great pot from his mum's house to his house....

IMG_9570.jpeg

.....nice old farmhouse just been sold for £800k. Pot must weigh about half a ton and set in concrete

IMG_9571.jpeg

"Be careful, we got that from Tuscany and it cost £1200"
No pressure then....

IMG_9572.jpeg

All loaded up before bacon butties and cake! Used the big red hook and expert slinging :devilish:
"Can you just take a few ladders as well" :ROFLMAO:

IMG_9574.jpeg

Safe and sound at my mate's posh house in Dedham (Grade 1 listed)

That was interesting - had to be uber careful with this expensive pot.
Another job jobbed and home by mid afternoon :giggle:

A few weeks ago some new neighbours moved in. Really nice couple just a few years younger than us.
Being a chalet/bungalow they want to make this into a nice home into their retirement.
From day 1 they have had loads of trades coming in to do jobs
For me they have agreed for me to rip out their very overgrown hedge at the front on my boundary/fence
IMG_9548.jpeg

It was growing sideways up to about 5' across my side

IMG_9604.jpeg

Slowing getting there - it's massive :p

IMG_9650.jpeg

Similar shot to above - new treated posts going in...

IMG_9651.jpeg

Air nail gun made short work of fixing the feather boards...

IMG_9659.jpeg

Job jobbed but had to work to 7.10pm in the rain and dark with a head torch :ROFLMAO:

IMG_9661.jpeg

Sharon was so pleased with the results that she started putting out pots ready for planting up
We actually decided NOT to go with concrete posts and gravel boards.
Living in the country we felt that timber was the way to go. Gave them extra creosote.
Hard work but worthwhile, now gotta do the front hedge fence soon......

So Allan, the new neighbour said, "Dave can you just take out that old Wishing Well for us, we just want it gone"
IMG_9627.jpeg

Put in about 20 years ago as an ornamental planter.....

IMG_9628.jpeg

Mr Neuson and 300mm got to work.....

IMG_9629.jpeg

Bugger, the slab is made from 9" thick strong concrete

IMG_9630.jpeg

So tracked back next door and fetched Mr. Arrowhead :devilish:
God, I am so pleased that I didn't sell this on.
Another job jobbed, and site now turfed over :)

I too prefer all timber fencing to the horrible concrete post and gravel boards. Occasionally if concrete posts are needed I'll use pcr posts and bolts timber rails on.

What's with the ovlov mini. Bonnet up alot 🤪

Glad that you agree with our thoughts on timber fencing in the country
Yes that Ovlov mini is a heap of shite :poop:
The Landscapers arrived a few weeks ago to give the garden a make over and bought it with them.
What they have done could have been done with shovels and a wheelbarrow
IMG_9554.jpeg

It hasn't seen a grease gun for years. I got so annoyed  by the squeaking that I went over and greased it up for them😇
IMG_9555.jpeg

What happened here mate?
Oh, I turned it over a few months ago 😆

IMG_9556.jpeg

What's all this mess then?
Oh, the exhaust fell of a few weeks ago 😫

And the bonnet won't stay sun because the counter weight is hanging by a few very loose bolts.
I checked the oil - it wasn't even on the the dipstick😡
So I topped it up.

They have no where to store it so it's now abandoned at my neighbours who wants it gone.
When I jumped in the seat it was smooth on the hydraulics.
Have offered them £900 which may get reduced :devilish:
What da ya think boyo?

They weren't a bad machine.

I'd guess that one is an ex morrison utilities with it been painted red.

If you could bag it for £900 then you've swam the channel. I'd be interested in it if it did become available at such a low price. I've a little job where I need to leave a machine just to keep knocking top off piles of muck.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
think there'd be a queue for that ...... at that level Dave it'd be handy just to have sat about (once sorted) as a spare or m/c for both ends of a job 'praps ... you'd never lose on it, unless it got nicked or torched

If you get that for 900 quid you could probably triple your money without even moving it an inch.
But I'd be keeping it as a spare machine and feeling very pleased with myself 😅😅 As said above, can't beat having a machine at both ends sometimes👌👌

Yep agree with that - but I'd keep it as a 'fixer upper'
and spare machine for jobs round my yard and/or where I need two machines etc - now gotta convince SWMBO :devilish:
