I was looking for a ripper tine for my ecr25d volvo at plant work last year.most around £400 but got a harford for £260.picked it up as I’m local ish.not hardox but a brilliant bit of kit.ripped up loads of concrete with it using it as a lever and pulled up lots of tree roots too,some couple foot wide at ground level.every-owner op should have one.should have bought one 20 years ago

the BMC one was 250 i think, it has a replaceable CAT bucket tooth as well.

@Nick... thanks Nick. Not to fussed if it is Hardox or not as it will ge used with a 1.5 tonner.

At that price I can always buy a new one in 10+ years if this one has to much wear.

Depending on your use for a ripper i find some companies want to make the shank too long. Ok for roots but i use ripper a lot on digging jobs on rock. A lot round me is shale and often its too hard for bucket but takes too long with pecker. Ripper can't half pull it out but some companies almost make the shank as long as there buckets are tall. Looses a lot of tearout.

Sounds obvious but make sure its well designed - I bought one for a 1.5T from some outfit over here ....... FFS hardly any crowd which is PITA when you are loading things relatively high and non reversible which comes in handy occasionally ... I never even asked the questions because I assumed it would be thought through

This! I had a whites hitch on a demo Yanmar and it completely ruined the experience for me! As said could even swing a bucketful into a dumper without the it spilling out. Someone was presumably paid good money to sit do nothing else except design it well and they failed miserably!

Yep - bought a Harford Pro-Lok ET20 last January 2019.
It was £613.20 including VAT and delivery.

Had the extra 1 tonne lifting eye added. This came with a Certificate.
Again the best thing I've done recently.

Seen here just after I fitted it and tarted up all my covered buckets

Since January, I've done some serious work with this hitch and done hundreds of bucket changes.
It even come with a 3/8" drive ratchet which I keep under my seat.
It never comes loose because it's a wedge system

So, yes I really do recommend Harford to you - go for it

I agree with you, the wedge lock is a great hitch- but I found on my 3 tonner it does come a bit loose after a session of hard digging and needs to be tightened up again. But still, much better than those old spring hitches which almost seem to be supplied with slop.

I wonder if they do any research on individual machines to try and keep the original close to original geometry
