there is the most spectacular electrical storm going on in a big cloud bank off to the North of us ATM .. best I've seen in donkey's.
lived in Raglan - early 80,s and had the mother of all electrical storms one summer's evening ... clear sky, but massive electrical storm filled the sky from horizon to horizon .. mega colours and continuous sheet, fork, multiple fork - was amazing ... sat in a sun lounger in the garden 'til four in the morning watching it.

Best I've ever seen was south of France sat on a veranda on one side of a valley the whole other hillside covered in a spidersweb of lightning, went on for hours. Absolutely stunning

Family in Hereford sending videos of it, looks impressive

Best one I ever saw was in France in dordogne, was on adventure holiday with school top bunk all windows down one side building ontop of big hill over looking everything for miles. Went on for hours huge forks etc

Nearly got hit in Mallorca out photographing it hit a transformer 100 yards from me scared the shite out of me, blue light then tingle then instant heavy rain like firehose bonkers was miles away on coast then boom.

the lightning in you vid is similar Giles, but getting streaks and forks .. all up in the cloud ... doesn't look like it's making ground at all .... lighting huge areas of sky at times and watched a non civil aircraft bank away from it and alter course earlier on, 'fore it got really dark ... it's either stopped now or moved further north

when I was a young teenager, did the Rhine valley with parents in the car .... every night about seven there'd be a colossal thunder storm roll up the valley and deposit several inches of rain in the streets and move on within twenty minutes .. was amazing to see - all the locals were ready for it as the streets'd empty - it went past and everything went back to normal - never forgotten it ... the valley seemed to have its own little micro-climate

ok, can anyone remember rolling thunder storms? I lived/live in the Trent valley and as a kid can remember thunder storms that came from the south all the way up to the Humber and then came back from the North to the South they would do this multiple times in an evening, hasn't done it for decades now. I asked my dad if it was just me remembering things wrong and he said no he remembers it all to well.
