Cannot understand why this is seemed so odd...dad taught me that ditto since I passed.
Hot tap running 1.5L bottle bingo job done.

People think it'll crack the screen and won't take the risk which is fair enough, I like taking risks to prove a point 😄
To be fair I will have started doing it when windscreens were mounted in rubber gaskets and probably had a spare so could have changed it. Back in the day I had one car for the road and another one for spares they were so unreliable with what I could afford.

I found de-icer to be not only an unnecessary expense, but just crap. Back then it was spray can only, so you'd get it out at first frost to find it flat.
Then another time you'd spray it on, get in the car and find it frozen on the inside. Then get halfway down the road to find the outside frozen up again!

Forget all that malarky, hot water from the tap, all points covered. No more driving down the road with my head out the window or peering through the clear bits at the base of the screen. I bet you've all been there :ROFLMAO:

Same as DJ here last night it was -6 here where i am in Kent, went out started the car having a heated screen helps but put the fan on full heater on full leave if for ten mins and the go back out to clear windows and a smidgen of heat inside the car too. Really icey everywhere the water has run off the fields then gone across the roads and frozen, followed a chap who had no idea this morning driving his car still frozen up whenever he saw a patch of ice he braked, I was glad to get past him!

yep ... started the car 15 min.s 'fore I had to leave with blower going full chat ... had thawed a lot off, to the point where the scraper brought it off a hell of a lot easier than the first attempt at -5C .... not only is it illegal to drive a vehicle without full visibility from all windows (and mirrors), it pisses me off not being able to see out properly...the number you see with a 'port hole' in the frost on the screen is horrendous   and the state of the roads this morning you really needed to be able to see WTF you were going

A bit more snow fell overnight, nothing to get excited about.
It does mean I can go all Pet Detective/Elmer Fudd though and maybe find out where the rabbits are getting in.

You know the answer to that don't you? Stay in bed until it warms up :ROFLMAO:
