I was in the Canadian Rockies around 2006 and we had 1m of snow overnight! Everything was up and running the next day pretty much as-normal.

was in the Italian alps many years ago, late 90,s and they had just short of 5 feet one night - exceptional apparently - completely buggered the place for two days .... only things moving were CAT loaders and pistenbullies ... biggest issue was putting it somewhere ... they'd already had loads that season ....

One of the vallies I worked in in NZ the farmers had all clubbed together and bought a pair of d10's to repair the road in the summer and clear it of snow in the winter.
Don't think they have extreme overnight falls but it obviously builds up to it

I never saw it as wasnt there in darkest winter but it sounds pretty harsh.
They said that when they got caught out they would have to fill 45gallon drums with boiling water and drag them around the mountain by helicopter to make clear paths to safety for the sheep.
The dozers also helped maintain the river and road during summer months.
The ground is also so stoney they could quarry decent quality stone anywhere so would have paid there way through that aswell.
Was amazing that there where bloody great holes on the side the road all over where they need stone to build and maintain the road they would just strip the top soil and start taking stone for the road even main highways where like it
