Got to be worth doing UFH in a workshop as the way things are going on a still, cold,overcast day it's quite possible that running a generator will be cheaper than mains (particularly if you can capture the heat from the engine and store it) 🙂

Just started watching Matt over at Diesel creek finally sorting his boiler for his UFH setup in his shop. Will be pretty nice I reckon.
Cold winter mornings crawling under stuff....heated floor 😍

Size it for low temp would be my advice. ASHP is the future :) Be very efficient in a workshop as you wouldn't need much flow temp.

I still haven’t committed to power source yet. I will get around to getting a quote from supplier but doubt I will like it. I am probably going to pull 3ph across from Dads shed, but toying with pricing up keeping it off grid.

I think that would also be preferable from a structural point of view.
I would have more faith in the insulation being sandwiched between two structural slabs than subbase and slab. Especially when you may have high point loading such as jack's in a workshop

Snuck off at 2pm to make the most of a dry afternoon. Got my panels moved and got ahead of the skip lorries. Be glad when this little section (about 250sqm) is tidied up as I am fed up with doing it in dribs and drabs.

I shan’t get over there on Friday as I need to be in the office :-( , and it’s factory Friday so taking the lads out for afterwork drinks and chucking a couple hundred squid towards getting them pissed.
Hopefully Saturday I can get last of skip hardcore spread and covered, then start compacting and grading to try and get it nice and flat.
Doesn’t look much but 250sqm of extra hard standing (forklift worthy) yard storage is worth it to me.

We having day out Friday (known as mad Friday up here) karting first then pool darts grub and beer !

The self employed local lads all get together for the day. We still have a traditional Xmas meal for all team (site and office) and partners earlier in Dec, so only go out on Factory Friday after 4pm.

Today I picked up 300 baby trees to replace my deceased bare root ones that didn’t survive the dry spring. More on them when I plant them. I’ve exams hopefully.
While there I noticed his drainage channels in the yard , and on his steep track. Quote impressed with the idea.
He says he saw it used in New Zealand. A quick google shows other rural frugal folks have also tried it.
