Thought I would start my own thread as sometimes I want to look back at stuff and can’t find it!
Todays job. Has to devote the morning to boring work stuff, then after lunch got out and borrowed the Kubota back from its owner . Overloaded the van but twas only half a mile so risked it.
Tidied up what will be the hedge on the middle yard, then down to the lower end of the site to try and get rid of my unwanted lake.
We ran out of time back in June (when it was dry) to sort the levels out.
The bottom hedge is about 12ft deep at one and end and 4ft at the other. It was well packed down at the time by BIL and his 590 so it’s ready for 350 baby trees next month. The side hedges need building up and will get planted in early 2026.

Sunny Sunday morning. Full of cold but forced myself to go for a run locally, then back over to the farm. Opened up a trackway for father to stone up access to polytunnel. Forgot to photo that bit, but tilt grader very useful.
Ripped all the blackthorn and brambles out of the old gateway with toothed bucket and pushed up on top of the boundary hedge to build it up a bit higher. Washed the machine off as it was hanging, then tried out my E10 dig deep bucket on the KX. Thought I’d break it but haven’t so far and am using it as a ripper. Never use it on E10 as always afraid of services.
The hitch on the KX will pick up the E10 buckets if it’s loose pinned as you need to pull a pin out to get it on as the wedge won’t pull back quiet far enough for the reduced pin centre. I much prefer this hitch to my Rhinox one on E10.

You animal! BTW think the Kubota would be better on the other way round- the hitch weight on that will be horrendous

Put the blade at the front so the whole machine can shift further back the trailer. On my TB125 the counteweight is nearly touching the tailgate and still feels heavy on the hitch!
Oh - I’m with you. I thought you were talking about the ripper !
The Kubota could have been back a bit more on the trailer , but looked right when loaded level, the photo doesn’t show it but I’ve dropped a van wheel into a shallow trench which makes it look awful.

Sorry yeah the animal comment was reference to the "ripper"! It wasnt the van that made me think of the hitch weight- the center of gravity of the digger is sitting pretty much bang over the front trailer axle which not only means that axle is way over weight but dread to think how much is also going on to the hitch- I thought perhaps you wanted the traction on the van though🤣

Yes. It was a gateway in my childhood then got some soil heaved in it and fenced over back in about 1990. I’ve been slowly exposing it over last 2 years. I keep expecting one of the neighbours to kick off. It’s not on any of the maps and predates google street view, so I’ve been assuming it will cause me hassle, then much to my delight the other day, dad’s mortgage paperwork came back as he’s paid off (age 67) and in the searches it showed a planning application from 1977 for a bungalow that was refused, I found it online on the planning portal and on the council stamped drawing it clearly shows the existing gateway , so I have some proof that it’s always been there :)

Did you end up insulating half the roof in the end? Doing the sides as well??
Big half has 80mm PIR. Little end is anti con. The company that built and erected have gone awol, still waiting for a bit of the vertical section to be finishes then gable flashing, and some steel work to catch the end of the concrete panels. I owe them more money than they have left on the job.. so ball is in their court. Signed up back In June being promised 6 weeks, shed went up in September and they have been awol since then. Mildly frustrating but it’s not holding anything up.

If you go on Google Earth (not maps) you can actually look back at previous satellite images taken over the years. Some are obviously more detailed the more recent they are, but might be helpful one day to prove something like this. Depending on where you are in the country, some date back to the 1940's!
It makes for interesting viewing if you're bored one evening regardless.

Just Realised I posted this in the wrong place. Didn't spot that there is a members blog page. Will start over.
