Well. Got my final bill for the shed frame/roof. They still need to come back and sort a couple bits, but at least I can run the bill through the books and get the vat on its way. Shan’t be paying the final 7K until they have been back though!
Everything is super dry and I’m itching to start screening my stockpiles ready for more yard building but mothers bathroom and mother in laws boiler and the usual 60+hours a week day job are getting in the way .
Another little 4 yard of recycled hardcore arrived today. My stockpile is getting embarrassingly large. I can see it from the A388 which is about 2 miles away across the valleys. At £6 a ton delivered I can’t say no. Takes a little bit of fiddling about but makes a wonderful hard yard when capped with something more aesthetically pleasing.

I’ve got a couple days off booked around Easter and need to get some drains and service ducts laid in. I am going to be picking up 3ph from next doors shed. Will be about 100m run of cable for that. I already laid in some 63mm stuff under the track way, and I will have chamber access to both ends of that. The next section will be about 600 deep going across to shed and under stone yard will be taking a 25mm cable / 25mm water line and and probably a 6mm cable as well. Slightly bewildered by all the duct choices available Any reason not to shove it all through a 110mm waste pipe with slow radius bends at the end? I have blue 63mm duct on-site so can separate the water easily enough.

elec supplier will give you a spec of duct you need to use… don’t deviate from that!
Dig to the correct depth and tape / sand it up too!
Don’t put it in a 110 drainage pipe

You don’t need to duct it, just sand and tape.

If you want to duct don’t put it in something that someone may identify as something else in the future.. ie blue for water, brown drains etc
You can get plain black duct cheap enough.

You can get plain black duct cheap enough.

Need to duct it as yard surface will going down before cables coming in. So want a duct that will be easy to draw through. Think I will go for the 110mm twinwall ducting (which looks identical to twinwall drainage?) And use some premade bends. I always duct my water anyway in 63mm blue so will use that and keep it seperate.

My only 2 cents it this is, don't put the electric in the same duct as a telephone line (if you're puting one in) it can effect the signal

Deffo, more likely be cat6 if it's yourself and afaik BT aren't pulling copper now. Or aren't supposed to be.
Bigger is better and leave a draw rope in your future self will thank you

My only 2 cents it this is, don't put the electric in the same duct as a telephone line (if you're puting one in) it can effect the signal

and if you are including any two way/remote lighting switching for LEDs, you'll need to fit 'snubber' capacitors at the light units to stop them triggering from inducted current from either the control lines or any other cables in the duct - don't bother asking how I know

100mm twinwall is what you want but buy it in coils rather than sticks and you won't need to buy the premade bends as it's fairly flexible.

A drawpit is a good idea every 50m or at any (significant) change of direction.

Ta - Will check it out. Thanks for advice. Due to the layout and ther fact I have already put a 63mm duct under the lane ( in the middle of the overall run) I will do a catch pit both sides of that, so nothing more than 50m in one go. I think it will be 25mm cable going in. Never done it before but reckon its fun to pull through. Might be after some tips for that when the time comes.

Decent blue rope, cable reel one end with someone manually turning it, mini digger other end jacked up in the air and wrap the blue rope around one track, gently move track lever and hey presto a cable puller

Lube and a Chinese finger are worth their weight in gold if you have any tight bends.
ive never used it for cables yet but thinking my eder capstan winch will be damn handy on any future cable jobs..

I did try it on a very stubborn armoured Flexi 20mm conduit once combined with a forklift and a strop but that's another story

I think it'll try and crush a pipe though

Optimum size conduit for 25mm armoured ? Think it’s about 26mm OD. I’d be happy pulling 25mm MDPE through 63mm….
