the week the Queen was due to open it, the Free Wales Army threatened to blow up the stone bearing the memorial plaque on the side of the road in Chepstow ..
my old man was assigned the task of hiding it for a week ..
took a truck down there, it was duly loaded on the back and he hid it for a week - brought it back the night before the opening and it had a guard all night. Never told a soul where he hid
it and the truck - ever.
I suspect he hid it at David Broom's dad's farm in Chepstow as he was good friends with Fred and David.
