Had to do a school run. Normally darling daughter is on the bus. Got to the junction to turn down to the school. Road Closed sign. Drove for the 2.5miles to the school. Past several road closed signs. Dropped daughter at school and returned. At no point did any sign say how far it is to the road closure. So is it any wonder people drive up to the point it is closed!!

One of the main routes through town was closed for emergency tree work by the council on Sunday for approx a week (private land but one fell on a car a few days previously) Its causing chaos on the back lane routes, mainly by people incapable of reversing even the smallest of cars 🤬

This lot to come down!

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
get it here on our main lane up to us - they'll 'close it' at each end (about 6 miles) - are we supposed to fly out ?? just ignore them and have yet to encounter a 'real' obstacle to pass (and very little alternate routes)

The lights may or may not have disappeared into the hedge one weekend about 2am when some lads headed home....🤐
Our barn is on a fairly narrow country lane, gets used as a diversion quite a lot. Fair enough when it's needed but the other week the 'normal' route was all sorted and running over the weekend but the diversion sign at the top of our road was still up, sending all the can't drive morons down it for no good reason. I came very very close to throwing the bloody sign in the hedge 🤬🤬🤬😂

Seen it my shelf, having done the odd bit of TM over the years. People ignoring closures, driving the wrong side of the road.

Had on a night shift, people driving a mile, passing 7 road ahead closed signs, and cones which meant they had to drive on the opposite side of the carriageway. Get to the road closure and then be completely surprised and dumbfounded that the road is closed.
What would help though is if the road closed signs gave some indication of where it was actually closed! - 7 Road closed sign, presumably there are roads, turnings, houses, gate ways etc between the sign furthest away from the works, so you have to go past them to get where you're going.
Easier said than done though of course, to make the information understandable at driving speed, and no use it saying 'road closed at Bob's House' if you don't know who Bob is 😆

Was a for the night closure of a junction to allow the connection of a 700mm DI water main onto an existing Ring main.

From the diversion route start to the closure, about a mile and every junction between that had road ahead closed signs, Access Only and a diversion arrow.

They went out of an evening and back in when reopened.

On the subject of fires, according to SkyNews, the COP30 talks had "a Major Fire".
Now we all know that journalists are less trustworthy than used car salesmen /politicians /internet influencer, but I flinched when this fire was described as "Major". It's just a tent ffs - just let it burn.

and here is a man is desperate need of "fire extinguisher training".

I hope they are going to buy some carbon credits to offset that fire.
