Most can be deactivated, fords through forscan or just wait for your battery to loose some voltage, some times something as simple as disconnecting the sensor near the negative terminal will also do it.

Ranger will also have a mild hybrid in 2025 so assume the amarok will be too

Yeah it can be deactivated but through the touchscreen, once car has been switched off and on again you need to manually switch it off again!
The very latest ones(new law apparently?) automatically switch on lane assist like @V8Druid s Kia? So yet another load of crap you need to switch off, as on country lanes it’s lethal!!

Exactly this - I’ve got a 2.8 hilux and bought it largely because it has a decent sized engine. It should be a great truck but it’s very ‘meh’ if I’m honest, I preferred my pre-adblu 2l Navara to drive.

I took a 2t machine out on one and as you say found it meh. The old 3l manuals feel like they are flying by comparison. But I don't know if some of it is how isolated you are in new vehicles.
Got a lift in the back of a disco 5 the other day. Felt like we where gently trundling down country lanes. Looked over the drivers shoulder and we where doing 65.
Banning sound insulation and fancy suspension would slow drivers down far more than the c*** they paint on the road

that is a very good descriptor ... at least I have a button on the steering wheel that I can hold for 5 seconds and it disappears off the dash ... still a PITA every time you start the car ..... 's like a pre-flight routine ... turn this/that/the other off, log in as driver X, tell Kia's data gathering system to sod off, turn on what you do want and then re-set everything else that's defaulted and you're then hopefully ready to depart
I will say their cruise is excellent, once you've learnt to drive it ............................. and functions down 20mph ..... which is 'kin handy in Wales

Through forscan you can deactivate both the lane assist and stop start, plus turn on auto lock when above 15mph.
Stop start has already stopped working on my 23 ranger, it worked once then never again

Think 20mpg if you lucky and about 15 mile on battery.

No surprise why massive waiting list on V6 roks and rangers.

I think the days of waiting are gone, loads of pickups in stock all shapes and sizes!

I don't think they are that bad though. If you could buy a mk2 ranger then I would happily drive it and they where available as auto in other countries. I really dont think any advancements in the last 20 years have been vital. Very nice yes but as long as they go and stop does it really matter.b

Amarok 12 months wait now I'm told.
Very happy with my V6. Proper goes when you need it . Perhaps not quite as sprightly as the old VW V6 that was nuts and easily chippable to 400bhp.
New ones a tad lazier more V6y but frig it's got torque...scary with trailer on you forget it's on pulls like a train.

Absolutely s**t show of a situ now with commercials...wtf is it gonna end? Seen the pics online of open reach lads for 1hr charging during the day ...woke bs.

I know of a situ in London currently...someone won a contract but needs to be on leccy vans. So takes a normal sprinter to just outside M25 as leccy vans do t have range to his yard then swaps to leccy for last bit inside M25. They happy with that ....so he now has an empty sprinter coming back to yard and leccy van. Joke.

This is what bugs me about the Hilux gr sport,,, new one looks great but it has no more power than the standard invincible! I do hope the 2024 models don’t come with mhev, it’s going to be a very hard decision on what to upgrade to if they do!

The seat on the gr sport is awful. I got in one and thought the electric seat was broken as not going back then checked for a hard hat wedged down the back but no the seat runners are just far to far Forward.

What nobody is realising with these trucks is they don't have enough train weight to tow 3.5t with your lunch bag inside the truck. The lovely V6, leather seats, heated everything spec that we all want is just too heavy to have any kind of payload when towing and still be under 6500kg train weight. Don't forget any accessories you fit also add to the weight of the vehicle like the towbar, rubber floor mats, canopy etc. Then add your tools, jackets etc. There's not enough weight spare. For example, the new wildtrack depending on spec weighs 2486kg with a full fuel tank but before adding a driver. So add 95kg for ever increasing fat me, a towbar (25kg?) and a full 3500kg of trailer and we have 6,106kg. So just under 400kg of payload too but that can easily go with canopies, shelves, drawers, and your tools in the back. So beware!

Also, if you think getting hold of the truck is bad enough, it would appear you cant get a dealer fitted towbar, or loadliner due to availability. I can only imagine how it is getting parts for the things if you need to.... I'm doing a lot of research into possibly getting a new truck to replace my trusty Navara. Getting my head around spending over twice the money on a new truck that fundamentally doesn't earn money.... The days of getting a new truck for 22k are long gone!

Exactly, good luck finding anything with much more than 6.5t GTW now .

The tow bar deal is no Biggie.
If you go the ranger or amarok route DM me if you struggle with getting anything as I've spent far to much time in this topic. Plus I have a mate with the V6 ranger who bought at same time as me.
Something has to change....and it ain't going to be weight limits sadly I suspect...legit towing of machines over 2t will be pipe dream in the future imo.

I read that as @6feetdown ranger and trailer weigh that so leaves a smidge over 3 ton capacity, the trailer will only carry 2800kg ish, so room for more butties in the truck

On 2016 I did the gtw upgrade, there is a factory option to increase the new shape to 3.5t gvw but it's very expensive and not sure if it increases gtw.
I might try svtech and see what option there are to go 7t with the new shape.

Just seen a new ranger has been written off with very small damage to the rear tub, due to 10 month wait for parts
