Was chatting to a guy who had the latest ranger raptor ....the VVT went spectacularly wrong at 1900 miles with catastrophic results....
He bought through company but it's classed as private car so ford said he doesn't have consumer rights etc....ended up in a right battle and lost a fair chunk

He's actually getting quite good at it....
Nissan could have made that oil filter a little easier to get at, but I do like the thought they put into making the little slide/ chute so the oil that comes out of it doesn't run all over the axel.
I continued the theory with breaking the clips on the bumper and self tappering them back together - I couldn't be sure it was the Nissan tech or from my cows using it as a scratching post but either way most of them have disappeared

Don't give up too easily.
I had a A/C hose blow a year out of warrenty. I made a case that it had to be a manufacturing fault and the dealer finally replaced it (no cost to me).
A mate destroyed an engine in a low mile WRX (a couple of years out of warranty). He argued the engine should have lasted longer and came to a compromise where Subaru supplied an engine and he paid the labour.
Remember: any conversation you have (in person or on the phone) is worthess. It's completly deniyable.
Do everything in writing.

I had an engine blow(big end went) on a 3cx out of warrenty, they sorted me out in the end. I did have to make some drastic threats but I soon recalled them when they played ball

Yep like that little chute, but getting to the budding filter is interesting - usually unclip the cooling pipes etc.
On the last oil change, as well as the under tray stuff I had to remove the lower bull bar brackets.
That'll teach me to 'bling up' my truck

Now that is really the way to look after an engine
One of the YouTube Channels that I follow is SPR Autos - a Mercedes specialist - 'cos we used to have a nice C320 Cdi

Yep those wet belts make the engines a tad vulnerable. My mate son's bought an immaculate Ford Kuga from Carwow a few months ago. Within 2 months the engine went bang. Now involved in a legal wrangle getting it repaired under warranty etc.
I did my good deed getting it to the Ford stealers and back again .....

Ford changed the wet belt service interval from 10yr/150k to 6yr/100k
There was also a service bulletin but can't find it about how no oil flush or additives should be used unless they ford approved but the document didn't list any of the approved ones
My 2016 ranger never really had black oil. I never did any of the oil changes on it and normally do all our vehicles/machines, but with a 10mm drain time and at 10l of oil plus filter it was only £15 or so more than I could buy the bits to let a garage do it.... Until the last one which was a right kick in the balls price wise and was going to do the next one but changed vehicle
Also over servicing will also go against you with ford, read about a vehicle being done well before the interval which they tried to refuse for not meeting the intervals which is plain stupid

I had the engine on one of my rangers blow 1000 miles over warranty , but still 18 months under the time warranty and ford refused any help or goodwill payment. although I like rangers for their comfort and towing ability I dislike ford and particularly their dealerships. When I went to buy a new ranger the local dealership refused to even quote me, let alone sell me one as I wanted to pay for it rather than take their lease or finance deal.

Ford salesman are useless, at my local transit centre, when I was originally looking at a ranger I had a very small needs list, which mostly started and ended with 3.2 and auto. Idiot at the desk proceeds to show me everything but that. More recently when taking the ranger in for a service, a salesman decides to come up and get a conversation going about a msrt custom, to which I said it was a very smart motor but no good to me as it can only tow 2.8t, to which he replies we have a new ranger raptor over here, so told him was even less suitable as it only tows 2.5t, to which his reply was it tows 3.5t. I kept it polite and said he should really read up about the vehicle he is selling.
None of them are interested in selling outright they only want to do lease or finance

Terrible attitudes, never come across anything like that!! I’ll always enquire about finaince even if I don’t want it, ask for a price on both options and go with the lower for whatever method of payment I want to use! Dealer usually calls back with what I want to pay

When I priced up a new Doosan with Filtermech, I said it would be an outright purchase. Fair play to sales guy, he said he would put all prices on the quote including 1/2/3/4/5yr finance and i could make my own decisions.

The MZR is the Duratec engine and a petrol, MZR CD was the diesel, both had common spectacular failures! Factory recommended oil changes are way over 10000kms or yearly, more likely 12k miles.
Reliable engines which do high mileages between services carry a lot of fully synthetic oil in the sump and do a lot of motorway mileage, when you reverse those three factors then you start with problems.
Cheap services and long intervals are attractive to buyers which is why they do it.
