Use mine all the time tbfThat's another pointless extra, not something I want or need. (My preferencebut least in that instance I'd still have my van in use

Up until 6 months ago my son-in-laws Groundworks Company Elson Group ran a small fleet of newish transits. After all the wet belt problems and expense bills. They sold all of them. Then simply leased a fleet of new vans so big repair bills are no longer their problemSo it was £1400 for the belt and oil belt all parts but they said turbo making a noise and want another 2 hours to investigate, which turned to another 4hours and parts for replacing a exhaust clamp which has now turned to a £4k estimate for broken stud removal on the exhaust manifold
Apparently they managed to remove 5 of the broken studs but will have to remove the cylinder head to get the last one removedholy crap it went in for routine work and turned out to more work than the van is worth !!!
Who the F said buying a transit was a good choice. We've had two in last year with major engine trouble now. Over £10k in engine work for old vans WTF
If hazard a guess that pretty much every company leases their vans now...but it's still a pita going a getting temp vans and waiting at dealers etc. why can't they be made right from the outset?Up until 6 months ago my son-in-laws Groundworks Company Elson Group ran a small fleet of newish transits. All ours are owned outright. Sod leasing. We buy as new or used (somewhere between 0-5 years old) depending on mood and budget. Lucky enough to have an excellent garage on the premises for tyres and batteries and small bits, and a great garage that do all my servicing and Mot and major works at weekends. If hazard a guess that pretty much every company leases their vans now...but it's still a pita going a getting temp vans and waiting at dealers etc. why can't they be made right from the outset?
Just as an update not sure if I shared before...
Our MAN TGE went back last summer. 4.25 years old 132k miles in central London. Only non service item was a DPF filter unit. Didn't think that's bad motoring . How it should be imo.
Let's see if the sprinter is as reliable![]()
Trouble is for us - Service vehicles usually have £2000-£3000+vat of aftermarket investment added, which is nicer to spread over 10 years than 3.One benefit of leasing is the finance companies have a lot of leverage.
If one model becomes silly-expensive to maintain either the finance companies will refuse to lease it (= drop in sales) or they will "have words" to rectify the problem.
At the end of a lease, you buy the performer and dump the lemon.
if that's not transferable, it'd make a big difference.£2000-£3000+vat of aftermarket investment added,
