Its turning into one of them jobs you wish you never started 😁😂
No not really, I like a challenge😳 and with all this talk of what 5 tonners can and can’t lift thought I’d better up my game a bit to get my scrap 4.5 tonner to out lift the lot of them😂😂
trouble is it’s not going to look stock with this lump in as the engine is a lot bigger😳
I’ve had to do this today

Well last night managed to get the engine in 👍 but tight (and I thought the Perkins was a slim fit😳)

as you can see the engine mounts are where the counter weight should be🤔 so had to do a bit more cutting this morning

Clean sheet of paper time 😉 so today measured it a dozen or so times to come to the conclusion that the chassis needs to be 7” longer which will get the counter weight and the side weights all lined up, the engine sits lower to try and clear the cab bulkhead but doesn’t protrude below the original and had to move the engine slightly to the right to get the hydraulic pump on as the cast bell housing is thicker (luckily no radiator to worry about this time) but still need to find a bit of space for the hydraulic cooler🤔 didn’t take a picture tonight as @Davedb visited (so forgot) but lengthened the chassis and tacked the engine mounts in all needs to be welded properly in the morning with a few webs here and there😉 there is a lot of weight hanging out back now😂

Just think of the size of bucket she will handle with all that counter weight and extra grunt

£4,750.00😳😳 makes mine look the bargain of the century😳 (@Monkeybusiness)

Disaster😢😢 while lifting the engine in for a trail fit to line the engine mounts up, the engine just touched the corner of the rear window and

well gutted😢😢 another expense this thing is a bloody money pit😂😂
So had a morning welding the new 25mm thick chassis members and boxing the rear cross member so the counter weight tucks in underneath and the two 10mm thick engine mounting strips, now it’s welded up it seem to have stiffened it up a treat
So here we go the completed engine bay just the hydraulic oil tank bracket to adapt
Let the welding police scrutinise my attempts at vertically sticking two pieces of metal together🤔

Fair play fella ..... not many'd just dive in, hack it to bits and rebuild it like that ...... what yer like at panel work .... think you're gonna need a few extensions here and there :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
