Dunno about that - I reckon any day Paul spends ‘extreme tinkering’ in his scrap yard probably leads to a highly profitable outcome, either in improved efficiency at a later date or in creating something valuable out of something that’s been chucked away.
Uncle Bulgaria or Tobermory might be better names for him than Mogman possibly...

This is what they became did the turning at mogs as our lathe isn’t big enough then bit of careful marking out this morning and drilling with the old trusty pillar drill (dads had it 50years no idea how old it is)

still a bit to do though😳 the radiator seems to be blocked😢,
what do people recommend for flushing it, it’s all aluminium construction so if need be i’ll have to cut the top off and poke the core out but will try the ‘easy’ option first
also all the rollers, top and bottom are seized as it’s been stood for well over 6 years😳

Dishwasher tablets work quite well but don’t leave them in too long as they are very salty and it won’t to the Ali much good, good to see her going

Update time👍been out earning money for a few days but managed to back flush the radiator by making an adapter on the steam cleaner and getting it flowing full bore👍
but I think the ’new’ engine maybe worn out😢 when it was on the baggage conveyor it seamed fine🤔 but now it’s labouring and black smoking a lot when you operate the levers and if not running flat out will stall😩 plus getting very hot🥵
so going to pull the air filter out and stick an electric fan on it as the engine fan is about 6” from the rad and is missing the shroud but it that all fails need to source another engine 😡 but hay ho 🙄 oh and one of the steels in the track is coming out😯 but on the plus side freed the top and bottom rollers off👍

We went to one of these in a digger once doing simlar tried everything then eventually a Perkins expert said to take the injector pumps out and have them done, the diesel specialist said they couldn’t really find anything wrong but refurbed them anyway and that cured it straight away seems there’s something that wears slightly just enough to upset them

Had a good think yesterday and decided to pull out the underpowered Perkins out for a bigger unit, tried an electric fan but still got too hot plus it seems hard work for the engine the original one was 28Kw but the Perkins didn’t have any plates on it so a bit unsure what output that had,
So plan B pulled a deutz engine from this 40Kw too👍

it’s a fair bit bigger than the already bigger Perkins motor😳

first job get the pump to fit🤔 now the deutz had a large pump fitted but was a forward/reverse drive unit so had to come off and a new boss made for the komatsu pump

luckly the cast bell housing has a bigger hole so made a bush to reduce it to the new pump

so with a couple of new threaded later ended up with this

that then mounted to this after I’d made the new drive rubber fit🧐

just got to shoe horn the bugger in🤔
