You do know you’re going to have to paint the rest of the back end now?

bet that towed like a blind pig on iceI know
But that is a job for future Mogman
Had enough of rubbing down now
But on the plus side picked this up this morning

It’s 300mm too wide at the moment to go in place of the manual roller shutter on the shed
Just another thing to adapt![]()
I think I'd rather widen my shed then cut a roller shutter downI know

Yeah those spastic end caps are a nightmare when new ...let alone moddedI think I'd rather widen my shed then cut a roller shutter downnightmare
Well let the fun commence for future MogmanI think I'd rather widen my shed then cut a roller shutter downnightmare
i can’t see it being hardI narrowed a roller door down for someone once , I think I got the end caps & rivets for it on e.bay . I don’t remember it being particularly difficult. The wider doors like Mogman has have wind locks to stop them blowing through as well as the end caps.
Might not have one then but the motor looks quite small for a big doorSpring? Only ones I have worked with either have an external motor driving the tube with chain and sprocket or the narrower ones have a tube motor I have never come across a spring.
you got 3 ph? ... just need two buttons to reverse two legsjust need a up/down or forward/reverse switch to operate the motor, one will turn up![]()
I took a couple of ‘handraulic’ doors out of my old shed and they very definitely had big danger danger springs inside…Might not have one then but the motor looks quite small for a big door
the door on there now is handraulic so has a big spring inside to help take a bit of weight off the pulling chain![]()
you hang the door with it wound up and then over wind it a couple of times ... then fit it in the guides and let it downI took a couple of ‘handraulic’ doors out of my old shed and they very definitely had big danger danger springs inside…
(They are still on pallets awaiting redeployment - I haven’t yet sussed how to rewind them but think I might end up wrapped around them like a pto warning sticker…).
Just like a recoil starter on a small engine, but a bit more bitey!you hang the door with it wound up and then over wind it a couple of times ... then fit it in the guides and let it down![]()
We have a couple of cheap electric single phase shutter doors. Not so bad to modify once you have learnt the tricks. The newer one has done about 5000 cycles quite happily. The older one has had a new motor a few years ago. The plastic wotsits are okay if warmed up.Yeah those spastic end caps are a nightmare when new ...let alone modded![]()
I changed the wires on my single up and over a few months ago forgot how much tension there is in 1 of those springsTalking of springs and doors. Builder mate of mine, dismantling a double up and over door. He said he just remembers messing with the spring, then bang he's on the floor. Totally messed his head up. Broken jaw, missing teeth smashed eye socket. Must be nearly 2 years now and still problems, double vision etc.
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!
I used the telehandler to lift these roller shutters out of their cradles after ratchet strapping them up and they made a hell of a bang, I wouldn’t have fancied being close to them!Talking of springs and doors.
