I’ll disagree, you needs to be able to get it back close for transport, but with legs down you can lift a fair bit at full reach , but need to get it back in close as soon as poss. Extensions useful, but not as good!realistically you could achieve a lot of that with a set of extensions ... with the ability to travel the forks forward/backward, you can slip the extensions right through a pallet to get it back on the heels for trundling about, then extend forward, dump, retract and lift again on the extensions to get that reach ... little more faff than having hydraulic extenders, but with the legs, it'd still be stable reaching - no less so than with hyd ext. forks
I’d not want to be without them. You can also get scissor effect reach which push the whole carriage out a 1000mm or so.
