Low loaders

It doesn't work on all of them as they have interlocks to stop you burning the clutches out with the handbrake on. Or you have MAN gearboxes that just have a mind of there own and seem to flick themselves into neutral for no apparent reason or take forever to select a gear, generally just horrible horrible gearboxes.
The new Volvo's are more akin to driving a discovery than lorry. The gearbox is always in the right gear and ready to go. No roll back no indecisiveness. Can barely feel the gear changes. Nothing like lorries of old.
I do hope the discovery to lorry isn't related to other comments I've made/things going off. As overall I prefer driving my old dinosaur lorry over a discovery especially with the inherent hand brake modual faults🤪🤪

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
My disco is the same, auto hold and elec handbrake, it does make for a nice drive, the only problem I have with it is if it’s on ‘hold’ it’s never hard to just nudge ever so slightly ie when hitching up a trailer! You can turn it off obviously but who bothers to do that 😂
Kia's default is off - have to select it when you want it, otherwise when you touch the foot brake to release handbrake it's free to roll as soon as you take the foot brake off ... it's very handy though

The Merc estate has something similar. Never use it.
I love my Iveco as it feels like a truck. Not a big one. But just has the right seating and wheel position to give it that truck feel.
Never driven one of those Volvos but been in one as a passenger. Certain felt very smooth!!

Haha no. I haven't driven the new range rover but have driven the new Discovery's and defenders and the interior of the new top spec Volvo lorries is not a million miles away. Little bit more rugged and not as much brushed chrome but but they are nothing like lorries of even 10 years ago. Incredibly quiet in the cab, the gearbox is super smooth and the steering is unbelievably light, even on a twinsteer with power steered back axle aswell the steering is lighter than my wife's car. But then the last one I drove cost more than my house so I would hope it's a nice thing.

Ah ours creeps if it’s on the flat with hold and footbreak off, it won’t ever free roll unless in neutral.

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
My truck has ‘hill assist’ so when you stop leave it in gear (it knows how heavy the load is through the air suspension pressure) so has the right gear selected when you take your foot off the brake pedal it hold it for a second or so to give you time to be on the go pedal👍 works well normally, but if the weight is over the rear of the trailer so not much on the drive axle and your pulling off while turning sharp it thinks your running light so finds a higher gear then the trailer axles start to scrub while turning and it all goes to shite😢 so a manual lower gear needs to be chosen 💪

Does your one not have a knock down click at the bottom of the accelerator pedal travel??
