Lashing mini digger on ifor trailer

I bought a new plant trailer it's an ifor williams GH1054
It has lashing points on top of the sides. The issue I have is when I put the mini on , the tracks are too close to the edge to get a ratchet strap over the tracks as there isn't enough room to work the ratchet. I've been hooking the ratchet onto the outer edge off the trailer but if I got pulled I don't think it would satisfy the commissioners as it's not a lashing point . Any ideas what I could use instead of ratchet straps that would work better ?

What we sometimes do is feed the strap down through the loop then hook the ratchet on further along the bed where there's room to work the handle.

Get some ratchets with longer tails or some short endless slings to attach between lashing points and ratchet tails ... cheap enough

Put first ratchet from rear l/h lashing point round front of the slew ring and onto the rear r/h lashing l.
Second ratchet front l/h round back of slew ring to front l/h lashing point.
If you are really enthusiastic centre r/h lashing over the bottom of the boom pivot to centre l/h lashing.

I usually use 4 straps, 2 off the eyes on the blade. and 2 off the eyes on the under carriage, pulling in opposite directions.

And one over the bucket/tipping link to the holes under the bucket rest.

I have the same issue with our Ifor’s I find if you slew across the trailer you can ratchet over the back end tracks and then slew back and strap over the king post .bit of messing about but is the easiest method I have found.

I've got some short handle ratchets and tbh the biggest issue i find is the ratchet ends up under the digger and you need to be able to twist it to undo it as the handle catches under the digger. I think ifor welding lashing points on top of the sides on the gh range probably seemed a god idea but in truth they'd be better down the sides a bit.

I know ,you have to slew back to undo the rear strap,bitof a pain but in reality only takes a few seconds,still annoying though!

Can't believe this topic hasn't come up before...amount of times the ratchet ends up in exactly the wrong spot on ifors endless aren't a totally daft idea of you can fit them through a lashing point. I've recently got some spanset ex mod straps with the locking hook which is so handy for the deck mounted Ds but the ratchet is much further in so total pita for machines

I also bolt down a piece of rubber on top of bucket rest, to stop bucket sliding about and protects the galvanized metal.

Another contractor i know uses chains and ratchets ive been meaning to buy some for a while but heres his set up

Careful with those trailers- can't remember the model but I had the same one and it nearly snapped in two. A nasty split worked it way where the drawbar meets the axle. The sheet metal of the body tore right up the sides of the trailer on both sides
