Hey you kept that quiet 😉 - looking forward to a bit more info regarding control setup and gripper, buckets etc
Also interesting comments about the weights.... I use a heavy built tilt bucket as well and its a handy bucket but takes a fair bit away from the machine with the weight, so I would experience the same positive change.

Did I mention photos ? 😜

Hmm, tbh I probably wouldn’t have said much about it if I hadn’t started this thread, such is the negativity about the Nox and probably the way I’ve gone about this generally. But as I’d started a thread asking for views on it I thought it only fair to add to the thread now I’ve got one.
Ive utilised the machines standard auxiliary circuits to control the Nox. I didnt see much point in adding a control system at this stage, I can appreciate the benefits of having one, but I couldn’t justify the extra expense when the machine is basically already set up for it. I have a changeover button on the left hand joystick which switches from tilt to aux for Grab etc. Simple, but it’s works well so far, not run the grab yet, but don’t see any issues personally.
Did not have a gripper, as didn't want the extra weight, or expense tbh, but mainly the weight issue.
Did not have a top hitch, so direct mount, again I can see the advantages of a top hitch, but weight was always in my mind, as I have an extra long dipper on my machine. The offer was there to shorten the dipper, but I couldn’t bare to loose reach, the reach of the 86c is a great advantage on some of my work.
Also stuck with my original 3CX pattern pick up. Lots of reasons for this, not just the cost of changing everything. Going direct mount leaves me with a few attachments that won’t be ideally suited to being under the Nox, because they are too heavy for one, and secondly because I’ve not got a High flow auxiliary set up through the Nox yet, it’s something I may or may not do. To that end, I will need to drop the Nox off and put my original Hill hitch on to run these heavier attachments, many will scoff at this idea, but it’s only a couple of pins and a few quick connectors in reality, even got the quick hitch on QC‘S, and it’s not something I will need to do multiple times per day. Even if I am needing to use say a breaker and bucket on and off during the day, then it’s no issue, as it all still fits, ad I’ve still got the old tilt bucket to use in that instance. We shall see how that all goes when the time comes, the worst that can happen is if find it a pain in the arse.
Ive retained all my original buckets, the digging/trenching buckets seem to work ok. I dont do much with these anyway, most of my bucket work is with a grader on. With that in mind I’ve added a Scandinavian style grader, had one specially made that kept the height to a minimum to help compensate for the extra build height of the PUP hitch and had it made a touch wider to retain some capacity. I’ve only had that for a month or so, it seems to work great. But I do find work for both my original standard grader and also the oversized grader I had made some years ago, which bizarrely has found more work under the Nox than it did under the standard hitch. I’m finding that having a choice of grading buckets very useful tbh, definitely an unforeseen benefit of having the Nox

what influenced your decision on the kins rather than the opposition?

Looks really tidy.

Mostly it was the weight, the Kinshofer is a good deal lighter than the other brands I’d considered. Extra tilt angle was appealing. And a lower build height iirc.
I must confess I was going over the specs about a year ago, so the exact measurement, weights etc are not fresh in my mind.

Thanks for that. You've not only echoed a lot of my own way of thinking but I can also understand why you were apprehensive about sharing it on here.
I'm not trying to start an argument (for once) but I do feel with this tilty stuff that we get a lot of stuff rammed down our throats about them off various people, and you've gone against all of the, you've gone kinsofer, simple control system, no gripper, no top hitch and worst of all you gone standard pin setup, God forbid you'd want to pickup your existing attachments without spending £4 on converting them all to s type.
For what it's worth yours is exactly the type of setup I'd go for if, IF I could make the figures work.
This is were a lot of these experts fall down imho, I can't honestly see how they're going to get they're money back with the money they've spent on these things, that means you shouldn't take their advice as far as I'm concerned, your a business and have to do what will earn you money.
I know of one 3 ton machine out there with all, and I mean all the toys on, must have cost £50k, but gets less per day than I do with a standard machine, what good is that?
I'm not for one minute saying tiltys aren't great bits of kit, they are, but it think a lot of the setups out there are owners keeping up with the joneses and won't ever make their money back in the vast majority of situations in this country, I know things are different in other countries but I'm running my business in this country so it's the only place I'm bothered about.
Please keep us updated with how you get on with it, some of us are generally interested in the experience and opinions of people running kit in the real world.

The simple reality for me is, if I thought that having a control system, top hitch, S type etc was the only way to go, then I’d still be sitting here wondering how I could afford it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s all a lot of money, and the Nox was more than I’ve ever spent on an attachment, as would any other brand have been. But what I’ve got seemed an affordable way to go.

If I were starting again, with a new machine, then possibly I’d make different choices, well definitely I could make different/better choices.
Having said that, if I changed my 86c tomorrow for a new one, then with very little effort I could have my current setup on a new machine, that’s actually quite appealing.

Little pond job, first real go with the Nox on.
much to my surprise it handled that oversized grader very well! It’s a 13t size shell, made in thinner steel than a standard 13t bucket and with 3CX hangers. I’d not really expected to use it under the Nox, but it honestly feels fine, it’s certainly the way to shift muck with the 86c!

In all seriousness I remember a conversation a while back and pisstaking along with @Gunners.

Looks a fab unit and suits your setup... wider scandi grader is a definite advantage and looks the bollocks IMHO. Think you have the right choices personally.

Looks great to me.
By all means listen to everyone elses's opinion, but at the end of the day it is your money and your work, choose what suits you best.

Looking good 👍

That pic of your over size grader reminds me of my old unit when it first came just didn't look or feel right with a jcb grader on it till rear jaw in hitch got sorted for one for 5 tonner pins centers

Congrats on the Kinshofer and I love the looks of that JCB. I'm sure the Kinshofer will serve you well the Germans are known for quality than quantity. I'd like to hear the good and the bad about the JCB their excavator line isn't very common here in Western Canada so I don't have any experience with them.

Only just seen all this Shovelhands. Congratulations on the Nox, I really like the look of this unit, and it would certainly have been on my list of candidates.

How‘s the 86C performing: Would you buy one again?
