Is the backhoe loader a thing of the past?

Small kit makes a nice little add on to daily rate too for fairly low outgoings. Thing is if I have to hire a whacker it may only be £40 but it takes me 40 mins to go and pick it up plus another 40 to drop it off. Then when you need it suddenly they're all out on hire etc.
Do you charge extra if you’re using owned kit?

Borrowed this one for the weekend to see if I can teach myself to use sticks. So far it’s NOT going well 😟
Didn’t much enjoy roading it back on the A388 either 🤨

I agree 4k,no brainer, keep it for a couple of years to get used to a 180 on sticks then chop it in for easily the same money( you will still get 2-3 grand for a running 70’s jcb) on something better.

So back to school this weekend . Things I have learnt.
If you turn ON the ride control then its a million times less s**t on the road (muppet!)
Blind junctions are a nightmare.
Sticks CAN be learnt (if in a + pattern) but I would prefer not to need to.
Cleaning out ditches with a BHL is tedious.
You can make a LOT of mess if its even a little bit wet.
Clay sticks to everything.
Semi Quick Hitch not the end of the world.
Lastly - I have learned a greater respect for anyone that can master a BHL.

Remember going down a reasonable hill on my first 3cx without smooth ride, over a wide pedestrian crossing which had its ramp markings rubbed off.... I went for a ride!! I was literally flying! Didn’t keep her long after that 🤣
Place where I first worked (i didnt see it myself) apparently bloke went flat out out over a speed hump which lobbed backactor buckets out of front bucket which he then ran over !!
