Is the backhoe loader a thing of the past?

A wacker plate here is £15 and that includes delivery. Cheaper if more than 1 day.
That's got to be a wind up!? There is no way they can be making any money at that including delivery. Can you buy a 5 bed house in Sheffield for £10k too?

Every price you post makes me think you live in a parallel universe in some northern wasteland where it’s 1975 every day !

No offence and I enjoy your posts and what you get up to. But the prices you quote are mental!
Steady on he's Yorkshire...

Sort of joking but living costs in Sheffield surely arent much below the rest of the country. Can't imagine fuel costs or a shop at Tesco being less for example....
The divide in Sheffield is monumental.

Fuel locally is 153ppl to 142ppl currently

52 +vat for 2 days min hire
Little things like that make all the difference.

If I priced a little job that needed a wacker for a couple of hours, and you priced it. Both of us hiring needing to hire one, it all adds up.

Small kit makes a nice little add on to daily rate too for fairly low outgoings. Thing is if I have to hire a whacker it may only be £40 but it takes me 40 mins to go and pick it up plus another 40 to drop it off. Then when you need it suddenly they're all out on hire etc.

That’s what I was laying in 2002!
For a whacker?
Updated …. Im sure I recall hiring a Fiat/Hitachi wheel digger back in 2002 for £50 a day. Maybe that was for a week, it’s so long ago I doubt my own memory sometimes . Pretty sure it was £50 a day including delivery and collection
Found a photo. Summer 2002. Making a mess and having fun. Oddly enough the site of that photo is now the garden of where my adult daughters live.

I resent hiring, dead money

The area of Sheffield I live in £100k wouldn’t buy you anything
The 432 went over 2 years ago now. Made 25k ish at auction.

I've not spent 25k in hiring one since. I've hired one less than a handful of times since and few more times with a driver. So for me it was the perfect decision to no longer have it and hire when needed.

It's just when a decent customer rings and the only reason they ring is because they want you and your machine that makes me miss it.
