Looks good. That one swings quite far out by the looks. I had to take mine off today- felt disabled!

Here's a typical example of thumb usage This was 100meters of stock fencing. I pulled all the posts out with the thumb netting and all. Laid it all out on the field then sitting the digger at one end I rolled up a bit with the digger, grabbed the roll and pulled it all towards me until the whole lot was rolled up in one tightly bound bundle. An otherwise nasty job by hand all done quickly and neatly with out getting out of the machine once.

Seems ok. I was thinking maybe take it off when not required. Then i thought get some extra brackets on the other 1.5t digger. I did also wonder about brackets on my 2.7t kubota.

I'd imagine it'd be a bit small on the 2.7t wouldn't meet the bucket teeth etc?

I have it fitted to my 2.8tonner. had one on the 5 tonner too before I sold it. Use it for everything. Handling timber , brash, lots of rock handling (probably its main use) general clearance/piles of vegetation etc, plucking detritus out from heaps of muck, scrap, loading trailers where it's easier to neatly place items. Even use it to hang dumpy bags off as it brings the weight closer into the machine. I took it off today as had the post knocker on steep ground so wanted to relieve a little weight but usually just leave it on. In fact it's the first time I've taken it off in 2 years of having it.
I have a rotating grab on the 8 tonner at the mo but will be fitting a thumb too as just can't beat them for convenience and versatility

Might try it on the kx61 before i weld it on 1.5t.
I could bolt extra onto thumb if not quite reach bucket. I'm sure it would be man enough. I don't use my machines much so have a bit more time to mess about inbetween jobs

I’d like one on my volvo but reluctant to weld the dipper.id want the American type where grab bit pivots on bottom of dipper with quick hitch pin.seem to be standard fitment on a lot of stuff in USA or brackets are factory fitted.probably get here eventually.

Yeah I agree. The American style ones would be preferable. The only downside is that they are generally wider as obviously they have to be wider than the quick hitch so becomes more bulky if doing narrow bucket work and just more stuff in your line of sight. The RSL one I have is the same width as the dipper so it never hinders other operations and being narrow prevents any potential twist applied to either side of it.

Going north up the A1M earlier this week, the was a few new Hitachi's heading south guessing from Hebburn, had the US style of thumb fitted, I wonder if its a factory option

Got it welded on at the weekend. Pipes seem a bit of a pain. Just need some jobs for it
