Yes..Am I the only one who just uses Silverline sockets ad never has a problem?
Weighing in my 2p's worth here - I bought a load of 10.8V Li-Ion Bosch gear about 10 years ago and it's still going strong. I've also got the 36V Li-Ion SDS as well (similar age) and that's unstoppable. Apart from when I dropped it off a ladder. But we won't talk about that.
This was the SDS, dropped it from about 3m onto a concrete floor and smashed the case - but it's quite a hefty beast and I wasn't surprised I'd bbroke it.I dropped my ten year old Makita impact driver from a barn roof onto concrete and it didn't die..
yes but no bloody good to man nor beast without some batteries to fit it!As mentioned earlier in the thread, the motor in mine died within six months. However, Makita collected it in the morning and dropped it back repaired the next day! f**k knows, how, probably black magic. Good service all the same.
Druid, I think they're more like £250 as a bare tool.

£390 inc. two batteries, charger and case![]()
Yes, but everyone who already has makita already has batteries..and I've gone on enough about how I only use knockoff batteries anyhow!
£250 isn't expensive for the time it saves me, and I only use it once a week or so if that.
I've seen places doing the cells which you can fit in the old battery casings. Normally need a bit of soldering, but I expect you could cope with that.Would love to be able to get some new batteries of the same ilk for the old drills, which're still like new ... the one has hardly ever been used![]()
well that'd be a handy solution GraI've seen places doing the cells which you can fit in the old battery casings. Normally need a bit of soldering, but I expect you could cope with that.

just ordered a Makita DTW1001 for work, its a 3/4" impact wrench. seems to have good reviews so will see how it performs when she arrives![]()
We've been using metabo impact guns in half inch but someone recently had a malwalkie gun and seemed good, a few tinternet searches seemed to bring up makita as being the one to go for. It’s an animal, make no mistake!
