Once you get a goo battery impact you wish you got 1 years ago instead of the assortment of scaff tubes to go on welded up 3/4 and 1 ratchets

Cracking tool, as said 5 ah Batterys and there's not much it won't undo.
It doesn't like crap sockets tho. Get a good 3/4 -1/2 impact reducer aswell , bloody handy

if you've a good assortment of 1" sockets, I'd say it's a must have ..... I have more 1" than 3/4", but my big air gun is 1" drive

What would be the best make of SDS drill bits. Have to drill into concrete and engineering bricks. Fed up with cheap no name s**t.

No idea as that's all I ever use! I see Heller around a lot these days, I dont think they're top of the league but might be a value for money step up.
Are you burning them out a lot?

I'd never buy anything branded Bosch or DeWalt etc. Just cause they make power tools doesn't mean they know s**t about the consumables, and they're bound to be badge engineered anyhow. Milwaukee impact bits in particular were rubbish.

Spit-Paslode used to hang in there pretty well ..... have a big corded Spit hammer drill and it gives them a beating ..... just stand there and hold the drill upright .. drills by itself .... only thing I've found close to Hilti's old TE17, for making holes effortlessly in concrete

Sorry I only use cheap ones too. They get wrecked all the time and no make seems to be abuse proof. Usually contact with steel buried in the concrete is the cause of death.

We have quite a lot of hilti bits. I hate using soft crap drills or the ones that just snap off for no good reason.

Milwaukee have just released there 1inch 18v nut gun for anyone who wants more power or already has the sockets as each adapter you add absorbs the impact so for Max power use directly on the gun

Definitely- you can notice a big difference in power with and without an extension or adaptor on the same size nut!

Yup, most of the time I use the Makita with a 1/2" stepdown, but have a set of 3/4 if needed.

That's exactly what I do, mine gets used mostly in a vehicle depolution bay that we've got the lads wreck tools for fun and the makita stuff has held its own so far

My longer 600/1000mm long sds bits are all Bosch and they have lasted well. The smaller 5/6/7mm bits I use all sorts, quite like the Bosch multiconstruction ones. A friend gave me a 22mm Hilti sds bit, that seems pretty decent too.

That must be a monster, we have a 1" Ingersoll rand pneumatic impact gun and she takes some beating. Don't fancy carrying it about too much. It's heavy for sure.

my inch drive is a lumper too ... you know you've done a couple of wheels with it, after the event .... not been beaten yet though

just ordered a Makita DTW1001 for work, its a 3/4" impact wrench. seems to have good reviews so will see how it performs when she arrives

Just a wee update on this, been using this tool a bit this last week or so and it is impressive . It’s quite a heavy tool when you pick it up but kicks out an impressive punch. Been doing up M30 bolts on flanges and makes short work of it. Would recommend it to anyone looking for an impact gun for serious action
