differences in torsion units ...Thanks, usefull info, it’s hard to find any pics of the axle setup on the debon except this photo which looks like it has the addition of a shock absorber- never heard of that on a trailer like this- is that a good thing or not I wonder
the semi is a rubber block bonded to the spindle and pushed into the body
the full is totally bonded (the Moulton design - ala Flexitor)
and the insert is just that square shaft with rubber rods all pushed into the housing .... as said, have seen these rotated 90 deg.s when seriously overloaded ... not seen it personally, but'd guess it's possible to do the same to the semi too
Bramber had a display set up in their foyer in Treorchy with an eliptical wheel driving a roadwheel attached to a unit ... I personally saw it over a period of twentyish years, bumping around 24/7/365
they also had a unit on display that'd spent most of its life in the sea ...... the housing was 90% eaten away, but what was left was seriously bonded to the rubber, as was the centre splined shaft, solid in the rubber .
they were expensive units but fit and forget
