The current route of A level politics followed by PPE at uni is clearly not working.
The old days of going up to varsity and then into the house also didn't work once the vote was opened out.
We really do need a system that truly represents the majority of the people and gives them the confidence to accept the others without feeling threatened 🤔

Who was the last PM who we were satisfied with I wonder, pretty sure the last 15 years they've all left office with their tail between their legs🤔

For me despite appearances I think Boris did a good job of getting us through COVID.
Yes we can all wax lyrical in hindsight but arguably most serious thing to hit us since ww2.
I dread to think what would have happened if we had the starmer and co at the.helm then. Prob still be locked down and been told how we were leading the world in net zero face masks.

Agree. I didn't mind Boris at all, or Sunak for that matter- he didn't really get a fair crack at the whip- but I think the majority by that stage were on a witchhunt with the Tories

Sorry……I think you are wrong on both Boris and Sunak. Neither were true Conservatives. You have to go back to Blair being the last full term(well nearly) and before that it must be Thatcher that actually served her terms. And on that note Thatcher would be the last proper PM that we had. The rest have all been left of center in my opinion and that has been to the downfall of this country!!

Cameron prob did a full term 🤔
What is it with this obsession with the left and eco crap. Absolutely brain washed the whole of the establishment.

Like you say it finished the Tories off . They hardly even registered at makerfield!

Biggest worry is that Milliband may be the next chancellor, the left of Labour demand it & apparently he has quite a following with them.
Milliband is not liked in the treasury though

Nailed it:

Keir Starmer's greatest achievement as Prime Minister was proving that it is possible to have all the charisma of a parking ticket and still become leader of a G7 nation.

This was a man so uninspiring that even his own resignation looked like it had been drafted by HR. No passion. Just the emotional intensity of someone reading out revised office printer guidelines.

When Southport horrified the country, Starmer seemed less concerned about what had happened than whether everyone was filling in the correct forms while being horrified. Britain wanted empathy. Britain got a compliance seminar.

His government became a masterclass in offering people everything except what they were asking for. Voters complained about immigration, taxes, energy bills and public services.

Labour responded by announcing breakfast clubs, diversity targets and another consultation.

By the end, Starmer had achieved something genuinely remarkable. He united pensioners, farmers, business owners, motorists, entrepreneurs, landlords, young workers and taxpayers. Unfortunately for him, they were all united against him.

The public spent two years asking what Starmer actually stood for. The answer turned out to be: whatever the civil service had already printed.

His supporters now insist he was a decent man trying to govern an impossible country. Perhaps. But if your legacy is boarded-up high streets, rising taxes, vanishing jobs and a nation wondering whether anybody is actually in charge, history tends to be less interested in your intentions than your results.

At least he can finally write his memoirs. Working title: My Inept Struggle Against Public Opinion.
