I agree about the preferred direction of travel. I just question their ability and actual intentions. Often groups like this can attract the wrong people. I think maybe a coalition with reform and conservatives might be a better outcome than straight up reform. Or even reform coming a close enough second to give the traditional parties a wake up call.
We really need to watch America and not let the same happen to us.
Let what happen? We get someone in power who does what they say they will And what we vote them in to do?

I have more faith in Reform than the other showers. This current clown show came to power with very little experience of any sort of work, let alone running a country, and are definitely the wrong people for the job, and I don’t see any better among the Tories. As for the yellow perils, Ed would be okay in a theme park or adventure playground, but I wouldn’t let them run a hot bath, and the greens wouldn’t want to run a hot bath because a) heating water up would be bad for the environment, and b) they wouldn’t know what a hot bath is for.

You’re dead on . Greens got a sniff of power up here by getting into bed with SNP . They managed to stop all the proposed road upgrades and spent 10s of millions on feasibility studies to come up with reasons why we don’t need the road upgrades while the average speed on main trunk routes dropped below 30mph on journeys over 100miles .

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better

" When the UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) proposed In November 2024 that a new anti-dumping duty of up to 83.5% be applied to imports of excavators of between 11 and 80 tonnes from China to the UK, it never thought to consider Caterpillar.

The tariff proposal followed an investigation of the market requested by JCB, which had complained to the UK government that Chinese manufacturers were dumping their machines in the UK.

Chinese manufactures who cooperated with the investigation negotiated lower rates: 33.03% for Sany, 59% for Liugong, 56.24% for XCMG and 56.24% for Sunward. For everyone else, up to 83.5%. These rates have now been substantially reduced to a range between 18.8% to 40.08% ... Only after the TRA announced its proposals in November did Caterpillar declare that it too shipped excavators from China to the UK and should have been consulted
The recommended duty rates now are

  • Liugong: 20.09%
  • Sany: 32.82%
  • Caterpillar: 18.81%
  • XCMG: 24.32%
  • Sunward: 24.32%
  • Others: 40.08%. "

So the economy is crashing and burning round or heads....let's give 16 year old kids a vote. Brilliant , is that the best you can do?
I know this lot would be bad but they are surpassing everything I imagined.

Just do something to get the economy stabilised and moving FFS.

Actually quite a lot more to it than that if you read into it . Media just focusing on one aspect . Lots about reducing / restricting the way elections can be funded etc .. I think mostly for the better.

I think I’d rather have my future influence by young people that care enough to vote rather than the average daily mail reading retired voter 😂

I think it's a case of labour trying to preserve any chance of them getting a second chance, counteract the Farage movement led by older generations. Fairly sure the majority of labours vote share comes from the younger lot.

I agree in principle but looking back at your 16year old self I reckon most of us were clueless about most things, impassioned maybe but totally idealistic. I think 18 is young enough myself.

This legislation doesn’t just get pulled out of a hat, it will have been on the pipe line for a long while I should imagine.
I think all generations are equally likely to be influenced by media in one form or another .

Sorry but at 16 years old nowadays most of them don't even know what they want to do for a job let alone politics or voting for a political party. All they are interested in is Tic Tok, Facebook and becoming an influencer, This is a last ditched attempt in the hope they can cling on to power when the next General election happens, The sooner the better that is for myself and many others, This shower were not prepared to win the election last year and have show that they are way out of their depth! This is the same old 5hit different leader! I am fed up with hearing them say the previous goverment caused this debt mountain especially as the current government is now doing its best to double it! They remind us of this but fail to mention COVID and Furlow that was paid to most of the population and how they the Labour party wanted us locked down for even longer which would have caused a shed load more debt and inflation. This really is Ameteur hour and after one year I like a lot of the population's patience is now wearing thin.

Correct and you have to also bear in mind that teachers will have to teach politics that kids understand, Now hear comes the conflicting info being taught to kids and university students. Teachers are Members of unions and because of this a very large proportion of teachers are left leaning !! So how biased will the teaching be?
