Flail

I keep getting jobs where there is a bit of clearance to do and wonder if a flail is actually any good on a 6t - at moment rake it up etc but would be useful at times not to leave big heaps

Wacker already has case drain and could nick tilt service off tilty like we do for tree shear ..anyone have one ?

I have a femac - it’s ok. Mine is the cage-rotor mulcher version and it does manage fairly well on heavyish woody material. I’m tempted to get a more traditional flail to go alongside it in the hope that it would do a more efficient, tidier job on small, lightweight vegetation, but it is a fair may down my list of ‘what to buy next’ (below another motorbike, but above a pet snake).

Run this a few times off a mate on his 056.
Can't track and flail but you soon get the hang of positioning yourself right and gentle sweeps. Pretty efficient once get hang of it. Also run smaller on 027 but that's frustrating.

Two types, flail or mulcher.
Flail will be grand for hedges and grass and branches upto about 50mm

A mulcher with swinging hammers is a real alrounder and sounds like what you need.
The new Femac T9 EU is a serious bit of kit.
Will cut upto about 120-140mm and still do finished hedges.

Nothing really in my sights - there isn’t anything new about that particularly floats my boat tbh. I like ‘analogue’ bikes and everything modern is unnecessarily over-complicated electronic emission-controlled dullness imo.
Even a new bike is a fair way down my priority list (but still above a flail!) - however, the reality is that if the ‘right’ bike (and I have no idea what that is) were to magically appear in front of me I’d inevitably come up with a bullshit justification to myself why I have to buy it!

Road or tet or dual ?

That's why ktm is still with me - last pre electronic - hard to top, really does everything, apart from the trial bike, which I've told the mrs doesn't count :) I wouldn't mind a tet type machine, no idea when I'd use it but that's not the point.

I really want to do a load of tet - it literally passes my door (but all of it near here is very dull/easy tbh). I have ridden plenty of the Welsh sections but not as part of the route (if that makes sense?).
My old 990 Adventure does everything I want a bike to do, and there is nothing else about (old or new) that improves upon it in my opinion. And it even crashes well!
I keep looking at 1190R Adventures as they are still very capable but a lot more refined for long motorway/autoroute blasts - I’ve also been tempted by a couple of random rat-bikes (for no other reason than I thought they looked a bit of fun!), and have considered building/commisioning something based around the LC8 engine (as I’ve not seen one done and there are relatively cheap donor bikes available).
But life is busy and money is quickly spent on more important stuff, so these are dreams/ideas/wishes as much as anything else (unless something literally turns up under my nose, in which case a deal may have to be done!).
There is a 450exc in boxes/bits in my shed that I stripped in my last house - we have lived here for 8 years so that gives a sad insight into how much time I give to motorbiking… Am heading to Ireland with a couple of mates for 3 or 4 nights next month - that will be the first time I’ve sat on a bike since I rode to Italy last July. A mate has been using my 990 for commuting for the last couple of months so I’m going to have to drag it back off him soon!

Loved my 990 sdr - fueling was a bit on off coming off a closed throttle, but imho a better road engine than the 1290, felt like you could rag the 990 on the right road at the right time of day, the 1290 although it's a great engine is a bit brutal and you can't really get to pin it the same, apparently the 950 carbed is lovely too.
I have some mates coming over Thursday for a week - hoping to sack of Friday and join them for 3 days - got a pair of Bridgestone s23's fitted and it feels ace.

I have a flail for my machine, it keeps blowing seals so give up with it.. plus my hedge man is half the hourly rate as me and 5 times faster with more reach! So why bother?!

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better

have you got a cross line relief valve in the supply/return lines Dave .. not having one'll blow seals
easy enough to create with a couple of tees and a one way check/non return valve across the lines - lets the return line recirculate oil to the supply port in the motor as the rotor spins down
I recognise the plumbing set up on that :giggle::giggle: way cheaper than a CLRV (y)(y)

I have indeed, nice big one too! My mate borrowed it many years ago and put in on the wrong 3cx, never been right since even with a seal kit 🤔😫
