Dunno if it was this actual make but looked like one of these -
Used to be if you know how you could ....was a combination thing on some bit like getting them into neutral. But what a faff especially when their in 2 ft of water like earlier this year ....easier to drive round em and wait for the AA manI’m guessing you can’t even freewheel a Tesla? Or probably most of these modern cars with electric handbrakes? If the powers out then you’ve no chance?
Did you put that up on the old CEF some time ago ..... really impressive piece of kitDunno if it was this actual make but looked like one of these -
know someone who has had the h/brake lock on on their disco (2?/3?) three times in the last 6 months .... leccy brake thing ... he regrets parting with his older disco, with a proper lever to pull .... what a faff to sortI’m guessing you can’t even freewheel a Tesla? Disco 3 & 4 (some Rangie's the same) and have electric handbrake with the gubbins mounted behind the rear axle subframe. They're a known weak spot, plastic drive pinions strip their cogs if too much resisitance in the cables. Generally lack of maintenance and age.know someone who has had the h/brake lock on on their disco (2?/3?) three times in the last 6 months .... leccy brake thing ... he regrets parting with his older disco, with a proper lever to pull .... what a faff to sort
I think on the disco`s with an electric handbrake there is a emergency release cable under the center box between the seats.know someone who has had the h/brake lock on on their disco (2?/3?) three times in the last 6 months .... leccy brake thing ... he regrets parting with his older disco, with a proper lever to pull .... what a faff to sort
Not me, I’d never seen anything like it before my customer showed me pics the other day and I subsequently googled it this morning. Bet they aren’t cheap!…Did you put that up on the old CEF some time ago ..... really impressive piece of kit![]()
I'll tell himI think on the disco`s with an electric handbrake there is a emergency release cable under the center box between the seats.

The replacement parts are only a few pence if you're capable of taking it apart and sorting yourself, but like all things Disco, its a complete bollocks to get at.
Also Gra, if he's had to do it several times in the past few months, he's probably not reset the adjuster correctly. There's a manual adjustment on the module, then the system electronics have to be taught to work to the new parameters. If not reset, the system just hauls on the cables until tension lunches the pinion all over again.
Probably wasting your time telling him thenI'll tell him that too...... farmer ... got under it and gave everything grief 'til it let go i'd imagine ..... on his way to mart with stock twice apparently .... SIL's grand dad - takes no prisoners and his tool box is varying sizes .. of hammer, with a couple of chisels and bars for whatever a knockometer won't shift alone
....... never been under one meself - and no plans to either

yeh -- rarely set the hand brake on the P38 ...... 's gotta be a steep hill, 'fore I do ... just to be kind to the gearbox pawlProbably wasting your time telling him then
There are a couple of good clear videos on youtube showing "how to".
If its an automatic, just tell him to set it in park and forget about the handbrake. That'll save any grief until the MOT comes around.![]()

Yep I agree. Like most things car related, they don't like standing around and not being used regularly.Surely that’s worse, cos if it’s not regularly used it’ll sieze. Make a point of using the handbrake on my D4 just not if I know it’s going to be sat on the drive for a bit.
