Never say never, quite simply if the point comes where it makes financial sense to have a leccy digger and it fits within how you work you will. Trouble is i can't see that point coming any time soon. This is what worries me about all this electric digger nonsense. I'll never have one whilst any diesel variety is still available. But can see customers insisting on it in order to comply with their net zero policies. Then again all well and good on a construction site. Very difficult to comply when your on a rural site in the arse end of nowhere and no means to charge it.

It'll never work for me. Unless they somehow create remote charging when your half an hour tracking from the nearest road. But can see issues when diesel or diesel engined machines become hard to come by.Never say never, quite simply if the point comes where it makes financial sense to have a leccy digger and it fits within how you work you will. It may never need to work for you depending on other alternatives like hydrogen. But if leccy has to be the way and diesel becomes far too expensive an option there will have to be a way to make it work. Removable battery packs so you swap between, small piggy back battery to get you out of a bind? All down to ££££ at the end of day one way or another. It'll never work for me. Does that count towards the 3500kg trailer limit or is it exempt? Asking for a friend!!View attachment 40906 Think you have to buy one of these to take around with you
This is the big problem, which seems to be getting overlooked.tech and infrastructure isn't there yet
and sit there with it all night whilst it charges, so no one nicks itView attachment 40906 Think you have to buy one of these to take around with you
It is like any vehicle, you are only supposed to tow what the vehicle is rated to. If you by a pickup rated to tow 2200kg don’t tow 3500kg. Same rules apply with with an electric vehicle. If you want to tow check before buying.![]()

Don't think you will be towing your digger with a leccy truck
Fire Risk assessor said this week that if you've any lithium ion batteries just get fk out of the way and run. Do not attempt to fight the fire."Electric Vehicles are being Shipped in Fire Retardant Bags"
" The cars on the ship burned with such intensity that parts of the hull above the waterline melted. " "According to data provided to Australian fire fighting services, these burning batteries reach temperatures of more than 2700 degrees celsius! " .... "Just looking at a fire that hot can injure your eyes, let alone trying to fight it."" Orbital space vehicle re-entry grade fireproofing technology is being deployed to prevent Electric Vehicle batteries from creating another Felicity Ace disaster. My question – when are fire blankets going to be provided to EV owners? "
steel melts between 1450 and 1530 C
"Now that maritime transport companies have noticed the catastrophic risk of transporting EVs by ship, surely it is only a matter of time until home insurance companies wake up to the catastrophic fire risk of owning an EV."

" This latest fire on the Felicity Ace is the fourth since, in 2019, the Grande America, a roll-on roll-off vessel with more than 2000 new and used vehicles on board, sank in the Bay of Biscay after the cars ignited. The crew of 26 tried to combat the fire but, within hours, the heat was so intense that it weakened the structural integrity of the ship’s bulkheads and hull. There was little that any of the crew members could do but to abandon ship."

He reckons there's only one recommended extinguisher lithex or something but it's an absolute fortune . Not great if you've got stocks or cordless tool batteries. Or even forklifts are starting to use them...as for leccy cars no way ever keep one inside.
