Yes it is on a firing range, hence they are quite fussy about fit and materials. Any new material has to be approved for safety before use. I think the best option is to router out an overlap on each board so there is always a minimum of 25mm cover even if the joints open up. Wood won’t stop direct shot, but is very effective at stopping ricochets and fragments. I guess to do with the density and fibrous nature, so if a bullet passes through and bounces back off the concrete it will get caught in the wood rather than come back and hit someone.
Going on how thick the concrete is I don’t think it will blow away any time soon.

2 saws ..... one for the face cut and one for the edge .... or a table saw with a wobble blade ... some bit of kit a wobble

.... my woodwork teacher showed me one of them when I was about 15
.... had a long slot to cut in a project i was doing and he said "I have just the tool for that" and produced his wobble washers .... not as fancy as the vid. .... just two washers machined at an angle, that replaced the normal flat, parallel ones holding the blade at 90 to the spindle
I never forgot those washers .... or Mr Bowen, God bless him, long gone now ..... several years later, I had the pleasure of working alongside him, after I'd done my 3 years at teacher training in Bristol ... great job (well I enjoyed it) - but s**t money, back then ... did my probationary year and then went back into engineering, for three times the money, before setting out on my own

Awesome mate. Doesn't look like they are that popular in the UK as 99% of the ones for sale are US based. If anyone else is looking for one, they are also called a dado blade.

The dogs nuts in light Druid I'm planning a revamp of the workshop and the 9 florescent presently in situ will be replaces with 6 of those.............................. but do buy a good quality one ...............................

What Stock said above. Slowly replacing all here with led. Remember if you are changing from fluorescent to led to ditch the ballast in the fitting. It’s amazing how leds have come on in the last 5 years.

thank you gentlemen ..... glad to hear this ..... bought four this morning, after a conversation with the suppliers .... last batch and said they'd sold hundreds .. sounded pretty decent folks, ooop North in Glasgee ...... £27.50 each (normally 98 quid each ).... can't buy conventional fluorescents for that
will be interesting to see how they perform .... they'll be 12 ft in the air ..... give one a boot up, 'fore they go up ... if they don't cut it they'll Ebay again, no sweat
did ask 'em if they have/had any more, but don't expect to in the near future

I should think f**k is about right. Looked like it had a good kick.
The bullet catcher looks like granulated rubber which will comfortably stop 50 cal. Basically dump truck tyres having the surface peeled off so as to avoid the fibre and wire then chopped up in irregular 25mm chunks. A bit like they use in horse manages without the fibre.

most spectacular thing I've ever pulled the trigger on was an M72 LAW shoulder mounted anti tank missile ..... need more than some rubber to stop that ****er ..... should see what a shaped charge does to a tank turret the spawling is horrific and un-survivable

So ..... why after 50 odd years of production have MK seen fit to change their Metalclad range of gear FFS
new ones are 'smooooooooth' radius-ed corners .....

with a swaged back box, to achieve this

there must be millions of the old raised edge type that you will still see everywhere .... and of which I have many faces, but the back boxes have disappeared from my stocks, over time
would not believe the fun and games I've had sourcing some of the original system's boxes -- even though they still produce them !!

got five (all they had) coming today - hopefully ... if they're right ... already had to take two lots back - new style, despite assurances they were right .... they'm way too big and the faces drop inside them

no Rob, the name of the old H.O.D. in King Henry the Eighth Grammar, in Abergavenny was Trevor Bowen....
he taught me, for all of my years there and was then later my senior / HOD, when I taught there ...
I knew a few of the staff in the design dept. in Monmouth Boys, but no Mr Brown ...
chap I worked with in KHS did go on to Monmouth, but his name was Dave Thomas
a re-trainee, who in a previous life, had been chief engineer on supertankers ... he had some interesting stories to tell ... Did you ever encounter Charles Lester ?
There were two students doing their final TP in Aber when I was there, the one, Paul Spooner had my job the following year, when I went off back to better paying work, in engineering, (teaching, although I enjoyed it, used to be a crap paying job), the other may possibly have been a Brown ... but can't recall for certain

None of the names you mention ring a bell but I have been asleep a few times between then and now. I left in 1980.

LOL.... I was teaching in KHS 1980 ..... There was a Roger Jones who took over from Trevor Bowen the following year - curly headed chap, I met him when he came for interview ... (Trevor wasn't well ) and I have a feeling he may have come from Monmouth

well Vicki picked up me box of five Metalclad MK back boxes for me yesterday .... right ones they were too
My 8 way consumer unit arrived this afternoon with the posty .... very pleased with it .... will do nicely

shudder to think what it'd have cost me locally .... a damned sight more than Ebay's 32 quid for sure and plenty of room in the IP65 enclosure for all I have to do in there.

LED strip lights arrived late this morning, but not had a chance to open those up yet ... been a long 'Clara day' !! and no chance of opening up the 6ft+ boxes with her marauding about .... and it's been some bit wet here today
pretty sure I have all other items required to get the job wrapped up, bar a few new IP67 placcy cable glands, which'll take a few minutes to install at their positions, in the end of two lines for outside floods .... local place didn't have any with a small enough bore, so had to order 'em ... you guessed it ... the place with everything

Hoping for a dry day tomorrow .... got our water system to service, before I can get on, after our UV lamp decided to die , earlier in the week.
Always keep a service kit sat for it .... forecast was looking good - ish for tomorrow - dry at least, 'til the evening and not too bad Sunday either
