I am told that Top Gear were in Abergavenny today filming ...
the three stooges were at the wheels of 40ft artics :oops::oops:
dunno whether they were on L,s with instructors beside 'em, or someone's actually passed 'em as fit :unsure:and given 'em C&E,s :oops:
obviously going to be some LGV related slot in the next series.
Be some woke s**t to do with the disposal of stagnant fuel, sorry I mean shortage of HGV drivers

well the boss had to eat her words today ......

got the arse of the Golf up in the air this afters, to do the rear pads .... and didn't have an M14 three square spline drive to undo the bloody caliper bolts .....

She could not believe that I didn't have a tool for the job .... her favorite statement is " you have enough tools - what do you want more for? " ... point made today ;)(y) ... my set only goes to M12 :(
see if I can get one in town in the a.m. ..... otherwise have found a nice impact set on Amazon - long/short M14/16/18 ..... gonna be bar stewards to get at though and a windy gun job, from what I've read today

Any helpful comments Matt? @pettsy ???

I’m assuming it hasn’t got electric handbrake? Can’t remember any real issues other than triple square socket and a combined push&wind back tool for the calliper. Don’t think I’ve used impact gun, I’m always wary of stripping the heads on splined bolts!

thanks Matt ... no it's a cable H/brake .... had to take the carrier off the one side as the caliper just wouldn't let go .... poxy combined handbrake calipers ... ****in' hate them ... one wound in relatively 'sweetly' ... t'other was hard fought for every bloody milimetre :mad: ..... could be a new one job next week - need the car this week .....
managed to crack the carrier bolts on the one side that needed it, but what a bitch to access ...... and agree, splines and impacts are not happy bed fellows.
local motor factors had me troos doon on the spline drives .. no singles over 12mm so had to buy a set -- 14/16/18s long and short ..... 45 bloody quid, but impacts so they ought to be good ... they'd better be !!

Rear caliper seizures are a common failing of the VAG group cars of that era. I very much suspect you will have a slight bind on that brake over the coming weeks.
