well that was yesterday ...... little Jakie earned his first corn with me ....Tuesday got shot to s**t ............
Today has been a 'different day'
extending a drain/run off catch ...
in some bloody hard ground .... he did well ...
then I enlisted big bro's help with some bags of clean 40 mm ......
sorry 'bout the images 'lying down' ... Pam insists on taking pix portrait and I'm buggered if I can get them to rotate in here -- rotating and saving a copy doesn't work
.... must check her phone and see if it's got orientation turned onJob jobbed .... full bag .. and a couple of shovelfuls to finish off the far end
then I had to finish off strimming the bits of bank that she couldn't 'cope with' ('bout a quarter of it
) after I'd parked everything up and put the rest awayshe loves knocking it down, (when the going's easy) ...... but hates the clean up operation
raked and cleared 13 barrows of the stuff today ...and trekked 'em down the drive to where the dead grass gets laid to rest ......
does look better for it ...... usually do it twice a year and let it grow between, but it's always 'an effort' and might be worth doing more regularly to cut down on the grief.
will soon green up with a bit of moisture ....... which looks like we'll get tonight ..... and tomorrow, big time

yeh, but can't get behind the shed and it tends to knacker saplings which we'd like to leave intact ... lot of obstacles to overcome in this area
come September there're a few other areas that'll get some attention from it

been yet more bitty days and lotsa 'Clara minding', so've only managed to do odds an' sods in spare time .... got all the green stuff massacred yet again Sunday after she'd gone home and then thought I ought to try and fit the new fan on the Countax, tha't been sat a while .... had to get the sweeper off first, which isn't a bad op. ... belt can be a bit of a bugger
but it separates easy enough after .... 
.. tried to get at the offending article from on the floor, but such an awkward position i gave up and stuck it on the bench 
the gap between the two drive pulleys is barely enough to get the one off and having a circlip holding it and the fan on was not very helpful 
.. eventually managed to get the clip, pulley and fan hub off, but had to loosen the axle mounts off on one side to get me enough extra clearance to just pop 'em off 
new fan ...
and on in place
getting said circlip back on after re-shaping it was summat else ....
only way to check it was fully home and be sure the finger tips weren't missing anything was the camera on the phone 
that or take the whole back end off which i really wasn't keen on
having taken the deck off it was a no brainer to give it one of its regular cleans ... it was in need
looking better and liberally oiled to try to make it harder for the green shite to adhere to it ... then stick it all back together 
and job done for a while again .... still none the wiser WTF the fan shed its blades in the first place

yesterday was equally disrupted ... hamster juice saw off a fair part of the morning, followed by a supermarket hit as we were in need ... so didn't get to do much 'til quite late .. wheeled this little fella out 
for some hitch alterations .. currently set at the std 16" for conventional trailer hitches ... been on there a long time ... 
, but came off sweet as ...
knocked this up a few nights ago from a couple of suitable bits
and stitched it in place ..
for a trial fit 
before setting to, consolidating it
and a bit of fettling plus a couple of
extra holes
followed by a coat of shiny stuff
the original coat'd been on there at least 10 years .... job did and now have a coupling height to suit the little skip trailer ...... or anything else at varying heights of a fair selection ..... might as well make it as flexi as possible, while I'm at it
and yes they are deliberately at differing angles

and yes I have two differing size wheels on there ATM .... been waiting for a tube to turn up for the butty to the LH wheel ..... won't hold air without one ....... one's 20x10.00-8 ... t'other is 18x9.50-8 .... oddly enough I have another pair just like these

Tube turned up yesterday ... so swapped the tyre this morning
and sussed the lil' skip trailer for a fit
and discovered an issue with the brakes ..... which needed sorting .... bolt missing from the brake caliper ??
which was damned near inaccessible .. so ...... enter lil' Jakethought I'd need the bucket to get the height .. but could've gotten away with out it
.... picked it wellback axle off to get at the bloody caliper
**** knows how the bolt could've escaped ..... but it had
........ 1-1/4" x 1/4" Whit took a bit of finding amongst me odds an' sods box ... but found one and got it back together .... then juggled it back in ..with a little help from 'the boss' on one end .... just could not get the bu**er on me own
all back together, brake adjusted up and back on the floor for a 'test drive' ..... without the bucket for extra height .. no prob.s .... Lil' fella makes a decent bench crane

with my CAD system (Chalk Aided Design)
bought one of Aldi's latest battery tools recently ... and have to say I am thoroughly impressed with it .... great with a thin disc in it, lopping up the bits and bobs I was knocking out for the above, to give it a bit of try out.
rarely away from power so my grinders're corded.
Just very occasionally could do with one of these, but could not justify (to myself) the cost of a main stream jobbie ..... we'll see how it fares, but with a three year warranty on it, I got time to break it
their new Ferrex line has all sorts and all purchasable as separates ... battery was dearer than the grinder and they fit the entire range, not as there's much else I really want in it. Got two batteries £30 ea and a charger £15 to accompany it .. grinder body was £25 ... not usually a lover of cheapo tools, but as said it ain't gonna be mainline production ... and the use so far says it's likely to behave

leisurely day today .... Pam's sister and her hubby here for the day and their daughter, who we've not seen since Oct. '19, due to the lurgy, also made an appearance , with her one year old daughter who we've never seen or met, so's been a bit of a goo goo day for Pam - cute little girl, fairplay (did I just say that??)
And Gareth also brought me some FB MP 'spoils' from a few weeks back, he'd collected for me from his neck of the woods - well close anyway - bandit country apparently
never seen one of these before but looked interesting/ought to be had for a tenner ..... auto latching ring coupling by Bradley ... anyone else ever encountered one
