Known issues are one thing but potential catastrophes are quite another. Tbh i know of a few d4's that folk round me have had and i haven't heard any had engine fail. But i don't know what mileage was on them but imho it's too big a risk. As for the tdv8 is that the one where nobody changes the rear cambelt as its a body off job so can you trust one with service history?

Same with the TDV6, except you don't always have to. Body off is far simpler than people think. An experienced garage has it off in an hour or two.

Enjoyed that story Druid made me laugh.
aye ..... it's always amused me thinking of it Mark ..... he knew he'd 'lost ' when he realised I knew how far back the last on ramp was -- observation ;) -- he must've seen me coming from the overhead, killed his lights and been rolling, ready to give chase, the moment I went under the second over head.
can't live with a traffic cop all your life (at that time) and not pick up a few tips/tricks 'of the trade ' .... ballsy move ... was 'kin pitch black, apart from my lights  ...... remind me to relate the story of PC McConkey some time :giggle::giggle:

Thing is, they need to justify their use of exemptions. To catch a vehicle travelling in excess of 110mph from a standing start, they would have to travel well in excess of 110 for and extended period of time, about 4 or 5 miles in fact, before they stood any chance of catching you. That's hard to justify if it's dark and you're the only lunatic out there.

Our local garage said they can have a body off in under an hour.
I know someone that had to have both turbos replaced on his d4, said the d4 is total shite and got rid. Now if he let the engine idle for a few minutes after a run and actually serviced his motor do you think he would have needed to pay out a few grand to fix it?🤔

there are no circumstances under which the police should be allowed to do massive speed in order to catch a stolen car the occupant of which will get zero from the courts. Many times the police car written off in the process and the public put at risk.

From what you see on youtube a lot of plod in the traffic, or the victimless crime unit as they should be called, seem to be adreneline junkies at best.

If its life and death then fair enough for anything else should be banned.

I've had fast cars with big power, mostly quattros, drove them all to within an inch of there lives, been done speeding 3 times, once in a iveco dropside pickup doing 60, once in a mitsubishi shogun doing 68 and once in a 1987 D21 nissan Navara with petrol engine that would barely do 60 😂
