The disco 4s have the same engine issues in the TDV6. I'm considering selling the D3 and buying a TDV8 RRS.
Same with the TDV6, except you don't always have to. Body off is far simpler than people think. An experienced garage has it off in an hour or two.Known issues are one thing but potential catastrophes are quite another. Tbh i know of a few d4's that folk round me have had and i haven't heard any had engine fail. But i don't know what mileage was on them but imho it's too big a risk. As for the tdv8 is that the one where nobody changes the rear cambelt as its a body off job so can you trust one with service history?
??????The issue is bloody Peugeot and the 2" they shaved off.
never done a newer one but D1 and classic RRs are a doddle ... if you have the lift facilitySame with the TDV6, except you don't always have to. Body off is far simpler than people think. An experienced garage has it off in an hour or two.
They wanted to mount it transversely. So they slimmed down some of the webs on the crank. That's what makes it weak. That and possible poor machining.??????![]()
aye ..... it's always amused me thinking of it Mark ..... he knew he'd 'lost ' when he realised I knew how far back the last on ramp was -- observationEnjoyed that story Druid made me laugh.
Thing is, they need to justify their use of exemptions. To catch a vehicle travelling in excess of 110mph from a standing start, they would have to travel well in excess of 110 for and extended period of time, about 4 or 5 miles in fact, before they stood any chance of catching you. That's hard to justify if it's dark and you're the only lunatic out there.aye ..... it's always amused me thinking of it Mark ..... he knew he'd 'lost ' when he realised I knew how far back the last on ramp was -- observation-- he must've seen me coming from the overhead, killed his lights and been rolling, ready to give chase, the moment I went under the second over head.
can't live with a traffic cop all your life (at that time) and not pick up a few tips/tricks 'of the trade ' .... ballsy move ... was 'kin pitch black, apart from my lights...... remind me to relate the story of PC McConkey some time

Our local garage said they can have a body off in under an hour.Same with the TDV6, except you don't always have to. Body off is far simpler than people think. An experienced garage has it off in an hour or two.

I've had fast cars with big power, mostly quattros, drove them all to within an inch of there lives, been done speeding 3 times, once in a iveco dropside pickup doing 60, once in a mitsubishi shogun doing 68 and once in a 1987 D21 nissan Navara with petrol engine that would barely do 60I must confess I've never had a car or bike for the speed reason..... bad enough in a Iveco Tipper or larger..... Neither of which storys can be said on here.
