so ........ yesterday was a pretty grey, soggy start ......
visibility'd been worse earlier .... but the chances of that clearing were nil ..... combined with a forecast of total sh1t for the day, I was waiting for it to kick off again
this was the previous day and a bit's worth
and stuck an empty one there to see what yesterday'd bring ........ 3/4+ of a tin is what it eventually brought ..... it absolutely hammered it down ALL day 'til ten last night ... serious quantities of water in 12 hrs.

was certainly a day to stay indoors ..... Pam had a
steady, busy day, with me on her case slowing her movements down as much as I could ... trying to give the rib a chance ...... no chance of stopping her, but a more measured approach was 'adopted' ... or else!
Apple pie .... smoked bacon, crustless quiche, .... 3 kilos of boiling gammon ..... and Pam's cappuccino sponge
the gammon made for an awesomely nice lunch today, with sundry nice bits .... Vicki's fave meal and her choice for today's lunch menu ......
morning started with wall to wall blue sky, with sugary powder snow blowing in the bitter NW wind ...... and quickly deteriorated to a grey day ....
post lunch troll to the top of the drive ... walk off the gammon

before tackling a pud

....... least it hasn't rained today ....... yet !!
Clara, mum and dad for lunch and an early 'crimbo day for her ...... her great granny, next farm over to u,s has been battling MS for years and TBH I'm amazed she's made it to another Christmas, tough old bird, fair play, so they're spending the day with her tomorrow - on demand - she adores Clara and time with her .... so she had a few early bits an' bobs this afters ....
the simple things seem to always be the most enthusiastically received .......
took some persuading that she was not going to be able to get her coat on, when it was time to go, without taking them off

..... can see these being pretty high on the favourites list for a while ...... just behind what I delivered about 8.30 this evening ........
Clara'd been 'weekend-ing' Johan a few weeks ago for one of her friends ..... and has talked about nothing else since ... top of her most wanted list .... so we'd had a house guest for most of this week, in the form of Sven ... a little cream hamster .... his cage got wrapped in a thick towel - 's cold enough to take yer ears off here this evening....... and he went to his new home ... would love to see her face in the morning
Also went armed with some tools and me meter ...... Vicki'd called when they got back to say the boiler'd refused to come on when they got home

.... sounded 'lectrical, from her description and had a few candidates for the cause, so with Sven safely ensconced in his new abode i set about said boiler ...... not a lot to go wrong with it .... and having listened to its efforts to play the game ..... was either the Satronic ignition sequence ECU or the main control relay ... and being a well prepped grandad ..... I had spares of both

..... the Satronic's an easy swap ....
nope .......
delve into the guts and extract the relay ...
good old RS 11 pin-er
..... new one fitted ... and it was away ..
heat restored, it'd be a toss up between who had the biggest grin ... Vicki tonight, or Clara in the morning
and just to dampen my satisfaction on my return ...... our water pump's pressure switch has decided to play silly buggers this evening.......'spect the diaphragm's gone hard ..... cutting in when it feels like it and not when demanded ..... so ... job for the morning .... find me new spare and fit that !!!!!!
have to keep spares of essential items .... it's always a Sunday (or Christmas day) when the damned things go south

would like to find a source for diaphragms for these switches ... got a reasonable collection of 'em ..... either go hard or split, but TBH ... for the cost of a switch, I'd bet a diaphragm'll not be far behind them.

and that about concludes tonight's witterings ...... other than to say .......
Merry Christmas all ......

have a great day ..... and don't eat toooooooo much
