Sorry guys, I should have been more specific. The inverter is set with a few seconds of soft start to spins the motor up with no problems.
The over current trip only goes when you pull the clutch leaver on the lathe a bit sharpish with the spindle set in a high speed gear.
yeh dropping the clutch a bit sharp'd load the ol' motor up pretty well .... almost as much as a start from stationary if not worse .... a lot of metal to spin up

so ........ yesterday was a pretty grey, soggy start ......

WP_20201223_10_11_24_Pro.jpg

visibility'd been worse earlier .... but the chances of that clearing were nil ..... combined with a forecast of total sh1t for the day, I was waiting for it to kick off again
this was the previous day and a bit's worth
WP_20201223_11_54_15_Pro.jpg

and stuck an empty one there to see what yesterday'd bring ........ 3/4+ of a tin is what it eventually brought ..... it absolutely hammered it down ALL day 'til ten last night ... serious quantities of water in 12 hrs.:oops:
was certainly a day to stay indoors ..... Pam had a steady, busy day, with me on her case slowing her movements down as much as I could ... trying to give the rib a chance ...... no chance of stopping her, but a more measured approach was 'adopted' ... or else!:censored:
WP_20201223_16_25_13_Pro.jpg

Apple pie .... smoked bacon, crustless quiche, .... 3 kilos of boiling gammon ..... and Pam's cappuccino sponge
the gammon made for an awesomely nice lunch today, with sundry nice bits .... Vicki's fave meal and her choice for today's lunch menu ......
WP_20201224_10_53_42_Pro.jpg

morning started with wall to wall blue sky, with sugary powder snow blowing in the bitter NW wind ...... and quickly deteriorated to a grey day ....
WP_20201224_14_49_39_Pro.jpg

post lunch troll to the top of the drive ... walk off the gammon :giggle: before tackling a pud ;):sneaky: ....... least it hasn't rained today ....... yet !!
Clara, mum and dad for lunch and an early 'crimbo day for her ...... her great granny, next farm over to u,s has been battling MS for years and TBH I'm amazed she's made it to another Christmas, tough old bird, fair play, so they're spending the day with her tomorrow - on demand - she adores Clara and time with her .... so she had a few early bits an' bobs this afters ....
the simple things seem to always be the most enthusiastically received .......

took some persuading that she was not going to be able to get her coat on, when it was time to go, without taking them off :LOL: ..... can see these being pretty high on the favourites list for a while ...... just behind what I delivered about 8.30 this evening ........

Clara'd been 'weekend-ing' Johan a few weeks ago for one of her friends ..... and has talked about nothing else since ... top of her most wanted list .... so we'd had a house guest for most of this week, in the form of Sven ... a little cream hamster .... his cage got wrapped in a thick towel - 's cold enough to take yer ears off here this evening....... and he went to his new home ... would love to see her face in the morning :giggle:

Also went armed with some tools and me meter ...... Vicki'd called when they got back to say the boiler'd refused to come on when they got home  .... sounded 'lectrical, from her description and had a few candidates for the cause, so with Sven safely ensconced in his new abode i set about said boiler ...... not a lot to go wrong with it .... and having listened to its efforts to play the game ..... was either the Satronic ignition sequence ECU or the main control relay ... and being a well prepped grandad ..... I had spares of both :giggle::giggle: ..... the Satronic's an easy swap ....
nope .......
delve into the guts and extract the relay ...
good old RS 11 pin-er

..... new one fitted ... and it was away ..
heat restored, it'd be a toss up between who had the biggest grin ... Vicki tonight, or Clara in the morning

and just to dampen my satisfaction on my return ...... our water pump's pressure switch has decided to play silly buggers this evening.......'spect the diaphragm's gone hard ..... cutting in when it feels like it and not when demanded ..... so ... job for the morning .... find me new spare and fit that !!!!!!

have to keep spares of essential items .... it's always a Sunday (or Christmas day) when the damned things go south :rolleyes:o_O
would like to find a source for diaphragms for these switches ... got a reasonable collection of 'em ..... either go hard or split, but TBH ... for the cost of a switch, I'd bet a diaphragm'll not be far behind them.

and that about concludes tonight's witterings ...... other than to say .......
Merry Christmas all ...... 🎄🎄
have a great day ..... and don't eat toooooooo much 🦃🦃

So here was our Xmas spread. This was half our turkey! We smashed a good chunk of it, and have lots of lovely leftovers - may make myself a turkey sandwich in a bit in fact.

Helen then fell asleep once mum departed (after a brief argument about how she wanted to watch her soaps, and how she always watches her soaps, despite the post-food nap usually getting in the way) on the sofa

IMG_20201225_174945__01__01.jpg

and I then was able to slap on the stuff I wanted and made this!

My mum also got me the new Volvo A60H Articulated transport truck;

IMG_20201225_130656__01__01.jpg

Helen got me the top gear car, though I wound up paying for it myself! Down from £120 to £75 when I bought it, dropped further to £62.50 on Amazon a few weeks ago, and I saw it down to £50 in Argos the other day annoyingly! Nevermind!

despite the 'walk it off' technique Crimbo eve and yesterday and being very careful NOT to over indulge .... had a lousy night ... much to my annoyance..... have no idea WTF has upset my system, but it's still not happy this evening and'll get blitzed again shortly, if it doesn't improve ... trying hard to avoid morphine-ing it .. too many side effects :( ........ but "needs must ....... "

been a wild day, here 50mph winds and been out to check the poly tunnel a few times ...... still there, but it's supposed to get worse by midnight, so'll be keeping an eye on it .... half a tonne of sand bags round it'll hopefully keep it planted:unsure::cautious: .......... at least the forecast for snow tomorrow and Monday has disappeared (y)

did wake up to this one morning .....

destroyed this knotty old oak block that the maul had failed miserably to even mark ....(y)
but not before it'd had me scratching me head for a while ...... :unsure:o_O
had hooked it up to the Zetor and couldn't get the damned thing to operate as expected ... lever down for split ... lever up for retract ... pee-ed about with the connections and tried all sorts or permutations ...... NADA ..... eventually decided the plumbing from the valve block to the ram was arse about face ... P had to be P and T had to be T .. end of .... swapped said pipes and is now as it should be :giggle:
Pam said "nah .. must be to make you think about it " to which I replied "the only thing it's likely to do back'ards is cost you a finger " .. it got swapped ;)

spent all of 30 seconds developing a new control override ........

double handed op. is fine if you don't have a cock eyed gnarly old lump you'm trying to sit still under the blade ..... don't want to take the interlock off, for obvious reasons, but this ought to make life a lot easier for the 'more experienced operator' ;)(y)

Proof of Mr K's continued well being arrived with the posty that morning

had Clara for the day .... mummy had work to get prep.ed for 'school' whenever that happens again?
At least it was a dry day and could get out and about for a while ....

think she stamped on every piece of ice she could find .....
this lot beat her though

very pretty .... but glad to see it well on its way this morning ......

got bloody drowned earlier ..... went in the polytunnel to shake it all off the top ... a good 2"+ sat and the condensation it'd caused inside was like a massive cloud burst ... absolutely soaked -- won't be doing that again in a hurry .... 'kin cold with it too

drive's just about cleared, but way too much hanging about on the green bits ..... sky looks full of it ...... gonna go fill the wood baskets and get the snow shovel out of hibernation

We had some snow the other day. Inch or 2 down by 9am and all gone at 5pm. Perfect kind of snow if you ask me.

This last felt like the "old weather" I remember as a kid. Snowed on and off all week . -4 every night for at least a week now.
Loving this global warming👍
We`ve had pretty much the same here this week.
I done a delivery to Nelson last Sunday, it was sticking well, with a few accidents on the A56, and M65.

Been quite mild here, save for a few cold dips overnight. Bracing from tuesday onwards.

I'm in the process of setting up a local area recovery group :D
