for a bit of a project ........ has huge quantities of ash to deal with in the coming months and fancies creating summat along these lines ... but trailed and PTO shaft driven ... tow to where required type thing
always the same .... what you want always comes up at the most inconvenient moments and Ilkley's a fair trek from here .... would be handy to have somewhere to park it for a week or two, 'til we'm all allowed out to play a bit more safely again
any suggestions welcome .... waiting to hear back from Shipleys too, but this'll be going 7ft square on a truck bed.
I’m trying to work out where this skid unit fits in? Break it for the final drives/hubs to build up from? Or rebuild it to be the tractor that tows/powers the implement?

I cant recall the details of how he wanted to go with it, but basically he wanted to use the g/box and transmission for drive with multiple speeds available ... been a long time since it was last discussed

W T F is this sh*t all about 😮😲.... foreigners voting in bloody Wales' elections ... FFS o_O:censored::mad:.. not enough we feed and house the ****ers 🤬🤬 and at 16 FFS!!!!!! ........ I despair 😰

I am well aware that the following post will not win my any friends but hey ho, that is life. Normally it is water of a ducks back but in the current climate you just hit a nerve.

Your claim that you feed and house all the ****ers is just ridiculous and it says a lot about you. 21 years ago I moved from The Netherlands to the UK and in that time I have paid more than £1 million in taxes. (Just checked so that I am not telling porkies) Without getting into a d*ck waving contest it is probably right to say that I paid more taxes in those 21 years than a lot of Brits will pay in their whole life! So please don’t claim that you have to house and feed me!!

And for the avoidance of doubt, I am not claiming that all foreigners are angels. Like everywhere, there are idiots among them but the same is applicable to the Brits. Please don’t tar everybody with the same brush.

You will be surprised to hear how many times I have been told to f*ck off to my own country by some uneducated idiot. Fortunately for them, my (British) wife has never been present when somebody had a go. Otherwise she would have ripped them a new ar*ehole.

Apologies for bringing this up 3 weeks after it was posted, only just catching up on the thread.

I will now retreat to my bunker.

The problem is optics. We only ever hear and see about the ones who quite frankly should be kicked out of the country, and the ones that are trying to get into the country!

We don't see or hear from the ones who are here, earning and paying tax. Though I think a number of those have a tendency to come over and send all their spare money home, rather than spend it in the UK, which isn't great. As opposed to settling and bringing their family with them.

@Cyberprog I am not disagreeing with the main point of your post! Trust me, I wholeheartedly support the idea that any foreigner who commits a crime in their host country should be kicked out. If that is the UK, The Netherlands or any other country. If you commit a crime (not talking about a speeding fine) than you clearly show disrespect to your host country.

I (wrongly) hoped that people would be able to separate the wheat from the chaff and don’t make such sweeping statements. This is not the first post in which Graham has shown his disdain for foreigners. It is just becoming a bit tedious and for me personally, it tarnishes this thread. Which is a great shame as Graham has helped me lots since I joined the forum and this thread is always good to read.

Are foreigners allowed to vote? I would of thought those who gain citizenship then fair play, but what about those here for a couple of years, those working away from home? Judging by what the media say I don't think it's too hard to get the citizenship paperwork

@Jimoz , not wishing to take over Graham’s thread but I will answer your question.

As a foreigner, I am not allowed to vote in the general election. However I am allowed to vote in the local elections.

I have never looked at getting citizenship but the questions asked are not as easy as it is made out to be by the newspapers. According to my other half, the majority of Brits would fail the exam without studying for it.

I will add some context to the citizenship test, which if passed along with the language test, would enable you to vote.
My wife is and always will be Romanian. She is a now a dual citizenship as Romania allows her to hold both. My daughter who is nearly 8 also hold dual citizenship, all though she has never crossed into the country.
My wife sat the citizenship test twice. First time it was a lesson on how the welfare state works. Then second time it was a history lesson. On both occasions it was a multiple choice based exam with 4 potential answers. 2 of which you could pretty much exclude from being correct. As a native I struggled to get through the tests, but for both of the test I could not see the relevance.

Just to note. She passed both tests but because we misread the rules on citizenship for married couples she was originally denied citzenship.

I am curious @Flying Torquewrench why you have not bothered with getting a uk passport. Especially with all that has been going on with Brexit. I don’t see the UK sending settled “foreign” nationals back but you never know what the future brings.

had to scratch about for a couple of bottom pins .... wasn't expecting it to arrive in such a big truck ... usually stuff turns up in a 7.5 or a 10 tonner max. and can get dropped at the patch.

anyway, found summat to do the job - sort of and it got carried back down ...

gonna need to make it a more suitable top link for the geometry of the brackets ... or reposition 'em, (which I think is favourite) to get it sat flat on the deck (and avoid contacting the back window),but otherwise ..... a very well made bit of kit .. with some lovely welding on it(y) Nice one Shane .. first glance is -- highly recommended .... Got a lump of oak that'll give it a testing ....... when the poxy rain quits-again!! .... it held off 'til one and then threw it down .. a very soggy afternoon! :(..... as per forecast

got a phone call Sunday evening from Russ (me mate with the crane) " I know you've been shielding and keeping a low profile Gra, but me usual rigger's down sick .. any chances of a quicky in the a.m. ... be done by 11 " ...... so guess what I was up to yesterday ...

WP_20201221_09_09_03_Pro.jpg

Russ had laid down some pretty good ground rules with the site manager (big food processing plant in Hereford - tier one anyway (y) and very strict regime) ... I did my bit and everyone kept out the way, 'til I'd landed the machines on their skates and retreated out the way .... worked well ........ apart from the second truck being four hours late arriving ..... so eleven o'clock turned into half three, by the time we were away:( .....'fraid there aren't any other pix .... had to sneak this one:rolleyes:;)) Russ well pleased to have his Lieb back in action .... 'tis a lovely tool (one of two in the UK apparently) .... pity Scania charge so much for their ECUs (key fob was 900 quid on its own):oops:

@TiltyShaun Thank you for your insight into the citizenship test. May I ask where your wife is from in Romania? In 2018 I have been a few months in Romania with work, mainly Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Iasi (close to the Moldovan border). Interesting country with some very friendly people.

To answer your question, as a Dutchman we are not allowed to hold a dual nationality. Therefore it is not as easy as it seems. In addition I work for a company with its head office on the continent but bases people all over the world. As a result a European passport is just easier to work with. If, for whatever reason the UK decides to remove me from the country than I can easily be based somewhere on the continent. For the job I do it doesn’t really matter where I live.

Ooooops .... seem to have caused a bit of a furore ..... didn't notice 'til I'd finished the above post.

Firstly .... I apologise unreservedly to FT ... no offense was intended and I can see why he is so upset ... I should have chosen my terms far more carefully ... my comments were basically levelled at the myriad of so called 'refugees' that seem to arrive in droves daily, with their hands out, uninvited or solicited, usually illegally, expecting to be kept in a style they'd like to become accustomed to .. mostly young males who appear to have left their families (and responsibilities) behind, seeking 'asylum' and a free ride here.

the likes of your self, a foreign national who has chosen to live and work here, contribute, settle and make a life here are certainly not the 'sort' I was referring to ... I regret my erroneous choice of phrase :(.
