yep -- it's massively disappointing how that stone has fallen apart ... came out lovely - blocks in a couple of beds all flat as ... looked like it'd been laid
and thanks for the complimentary comments .. always hard to tell on this sort of thing how it looks, and get little 'input'/comment from Pam

got a plasterer coming Monday to give it a skim coat

today's mission ... scrat the hell out of the rock hard ground as instructed ... teeth required

Haner off and teef on ... first time I've had one of the buckets that came with Lil' Jake on him ... bloody heavy too - hence the sack truck - sod carrying that, from the patch all the way down the garden

ground duly scratted

extra soft tish won, relocated as required

Haner went back on to aid chucking a bit of the spare up out the way then time for a late lunch

and some tidying up after it .. overcast so garden watering time, early, followed by tea ... and not a lot

hamster juice knackers Sunday mornings so didn't get going 'til after lunch ...
bench time required ...

I'm glad I put a new mask on to wire brush that old manhole lid with the 5" Mak and wire wheel .... dust - unbelievable
then set about creating a new frame for it as it's not the original lid and that plastic surround/base is a piece of crap -- did outlast the tin lid though

had to get the tarp cover rolled back off me steel stock, to find what i wanted, buried under heavier stuff ... worked a treat - forgot to get a pic though - real easy
start of the frame ..

then set an inner lip to get the top height right and give it a bit of a seal too

frame in the background is to support the lid's surround
stitched together ......

and firmed up

second trial fit ... first one 'fore I joined the two bits

and yes I tried it in the chamber too
coat of supposedly shiny sh1t ... which is more of a satin finish .. dries quick though and seems to hang in there well

the boss wanted the top of the lid Pewter (looks a bit like galv TBH) ...
so ....

good as new
gonna wait 'til it's been emptied Tuesday, 'fore I go fit it ... boss is happy though

this guy really does NOT like the heat

barely been indoors other than to eat for weeks - both of 'em find the coolest spots they can and sleep through the day

got a third coat of black on these Monday evening

ready for an install yesterday .... which didn't happen ... Kevin was a lot later tan he anticipated

tank emptied for another few years .. only two of us 98% of the time and takes a while to fill it .'s a big tank ... TBH it could probably have gone another year or so ... wasn't giving any issues whatsoever, but with the weather like it's been and zero ground water issues currently, seemed a good time to go for it
didn't sleep well Monday night and was glad he was late .. was knackered 'fore I even started Tuesday

must've had 5 ish mil of rain last night ... at least that sat in the inverted lid this morning

got the frame screwed down to the brick chamber this morning

mixed up a bucket and mortared it down

one bucket wasn't enough so mixed a second big un and secured some of the loose stonework in front of it ..... was gonna do a bit more, but decided it was time for some lunch ... washing out me bucket and dropped me fag case in the water ...
got it out PBDQ before it'd shipped much H2O -- bigger issue was I keep all my PINs on a post it in there and had to come in and copy it all before it disappeared ... mission accomplished but was gone three by the time I dealt with that and'd eaten and CNBA to go do another hard fought bucket full
give what was there a chance to go off and go again

had an hour instead adjusting the brakes on the Lil' Tug and trying to find a belt number as it's slipping like buggery and really struggling .. amazingly I found one !!!

be here on the 7th apparently ... looks like it'll e fun to fit

'net pic I'm afraid ... mine's not so shiny ... but it is completely original -- I'm the second owner
there's a story to it when I collected it .... pretty sure i have related it before - my first drive was a baptism of fire down a loooong 45 deg slope from the guy's house.
as you'll know they are seriously nose heavy so bought a 3 cwt anvil sat in the guys garden - ratchet strapped it to the implement lift on the back - picked it up and set off downwards ... figured it'd make a good anchor too if needed

After mixing a couple of buckets/trugs of mortar and consolidating some more of the stonework down the lawn I was cooked ... been 'kin warm here again today and gonna get hotter apparently .. I was nadgered, so got the Countax out to clear the lawn of all the weeds, that, aside from the prolific growth over the soakaway, are the only things growing ATM.
shifted Lil' jake out the way/off the grass and set to it ....
unbelievable quantity of dead leaves and a serious amount of dried grass/growth of some sort collected ..
and dropped on the side of the drive for barrowing down to my tip spot

then did the side of the drive with the 5 /6 passes I can keep the uphill back wheel on the floor for ... added significantly to the pile

put the mower away and fetched the barrow to shift it all ... 5 stuffed barrow-worth there

and it was time for tea ....
lawn certainly looks a bit better for having all the crud lifted

the green patch took some mowing - 3 passes with the deck at high, mid then low settings to get through it all
