Did you use the struts that the AI spiel reccomended in the end or did you research a pair?

I'll have to go back and look see what it came up with Jim, but what I ordered, I sourced from their online selection system, which didn't have an exact match, but was close enough, dimensionally, other than the body being 30mm too short, hence my extension pieces ... the stroke, body and rod diameter were perfect, as were the mounting studs for the mounts I re-used
I'll take a look at what the AI suggested and get back to you (y)

bit of a 'gardening' day ... nearly took my eye out a couple of times on the Dane, last time it was out ... one of our plum trees had a load of dead branches on the back of it, so they had to come off and a.n.other tree needed to lose some low hangers ...
next door's foliage has been over hanging a big area for a while so thought while I was at it, I'd give that a trim too .... can't get under it on the Dane anymore, so 'bout time .... was a lot more than I first appreciated and took me a while, but got there in the end .... 's gonna take some burning though

was gonna put the trailer behind the lil' converted Countax I set up last year for tushing trailers about, 'til I found the damned pulse fuel pump didn't want to play  ... could've gotten a lot closer to the piles with that, but got it loaded in the end
and mowing along here with the Dane's gonna be a lot less hazardous now
WP_20260613_16_57_15_Pro.jpg

was about 15ft out over our ground, too low to get under anymore and 90% brambles growing in the trees .... vicious stuff to get down :( ...... forgot a before pic, as hadn't planned to tackle it today

It’s amazing how ‘open’ areas feel when you give encroaching vegetation a good hiding - you don’t notice it growing, but smashing it back hard to where it used to be makes such a difference!

yeh - remarkable how much it had encroached TBH .... could do with the hedge trimmer on the pole going over it just to finish it off tidy (and the chainsaw for a couple of limbs still protruding on the hawthorn ... amazed how many 'battle scars' on my arms this morning and still picking out bramble thorns from the backs of my hands

so .... Tea a bit late tonight, came in and Pam says you've got 12 minutes to take the food bin up the drive for the morning ... " OK - no sweat " ...
get up by the horsey girl's barn and stood in the middle of the road is a little grey stallion  who wasn't moving in a hurry ...
rang Gail and told her - asked what he's like? - she'd be out shortly, see if he'd behave for me !!
so got out and took his bridle and he behaved ...
took him to the barn doors and managed to tie him to a ring whilst I opened up
rang Pam and told her that I was gonna be late back for tea and why.

Little horse was good as gold - Gail took forever and I'd taken the horse to some grass, where he was happily munching, when she arrived ....
he'd gotten out of his enclosure/paddock
so...
shot off up the drive to drop the bin and arrived at the top at the precise moment some pikie looking tw*t was turning into our drive in a tranny, with a ferkin' great 4 wheel, 20+ foot tin tent on the back - he has to stop as I'm right in front of him, blocking his progress ...
not a word, gesture, whatever, he backs up several feet and takes off down Penbidwal lane :giggle: - I'm thinking " good luck with that yer ****er " .....
the lane's a bitch and no where to spin that combi round :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: bet he had a fun trip down there - I only drive it when I HAVE to ...
couldn't have timed it better - good job yon horsey got out :giggle::giggle:

first time in ages that i've gotten every scrap of crud gone

had a day out yesterday 'spoiling the boss' ... her birthday coming up Saturday - what do you buy the woman who has everything -- take her out and let her choose :giggle: - lunch and dinner out and she's had to re-organise her wardrobe this morning to make space
she was nadgered by the time we got home
I ate far too much yesterday and felt like I was gonna pay for it last night, by half ten, so blitzed it, 'fore it 'took hold' .... had the best night's sleep in months - zonked - and felt great this morning - even at 06.45 when I surfaced to collect and take the girls to school. New body feeling .... 'til it all wore off about lunchtime :(:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

forgot to say, I came home with some new 'summer weight' socks - I like Primark's 'cotton rich' thin ones when the weather is warmer .. and a new lightweight straw/grass hat - me old summer one died a death last year - girl on the checkout says
" You do know this is a child's 7-10 year old ? "
" yeh - it's a perfect fit - I have a hell of a job finding small enough hats to fit me " :ROFLMAO:
Could see the disbelief, in her face, so promptly stuck it on my head - perfect fit :giggle:
much cooler than a base ball cap in the summer (y)
Don't feel 'dressed' without a hat ;):giggle:

battery flat on the Countax (not sure it's charging or not?) but it has done pretty well -- always date mine and where they came from -- know who to complain to then when they die prematurely -- so jumped it and got on with the massacre
WP_20260618_16_20_41_Pro.jpg

as said elsewhere, picked up these in Morrisons Friday - £3.50 ea - bargain - the previous three are still going strong after two years of abuse -- cheapest 40L I've found anywhere and tough with it
WP_20260619_14_51_31_Pro.jpg

Birthday morning started with cards and prezzies that I'd been intercepting from the posty/Evri all week and hiding in a box - was out there after midnight Friday fetching them all in :ROFLMAO: -- then take her into town for Birthday brunch with Vicki
I had other things on the agenda whilst they enjoyed themselves ..... had an old washing M/c and tumble drier to remove, a side gate to repair and two lawns to mow .. finished just as they re-appeared
WP_20260620_14_38_06_Pro.jpg

Washer has died - sadly the programmer, as the rest of it looked perfect, as I gutted a few components out of it 'fore the scrappy gets the bulk of it -- tumbler is fine, but she wanted a newer one that doesn't need an external vent hose - will bung this in the local auction - too tidy to just bin off - got quite a bit to chuck in the next one
as said elsewhere, was lucky not to have a problem with the faithful sack truck shifting/loading said m/c,s
WP_20260620_19_38_42_Pro.jpg

new pair ordered last night  ... not done bad for being at least 20 years old though - gets a lot of use round here
Then chucked some new bits on the Countax trailer tug that arrived Friday

started sweet as then realised it was p*ssing fuel out the carb., onto the exhaust below -- which it hadn't been doing before ... float obviously stuck -- tried the tappy trick - NADA :(:(
so bonnet off, filter housing and all associated cr*p to get at the carb. ... got it off and did the same thing as I did the last time I had it off - in spite of thinking to myself " Don't lose the bloody choke linkage! " took an hour to find it in the planings last time:mad:
I lost it 🤬 - and failed to find the damned thing 😤 - had to create a new one out of me coil of spring wire (which has made a few links over the years 🤣) stripped the little sod and the spring plunger in the float's needle valve had stuck down, letting it flood the chamber - reset the float height and with the plunger now clean and 'springy' put it all back together, just as tea was ready, so was an after tea job to get it all re-assembled - stuck a fuel tap in the line too - the vac. pump will still allow fuel to flow, with enough of a head in the tank, so thought a tap'd be a good idea to pre-empt any further issues .......... and it ran like a watch ... got the bonnet back on and was back indoors by eight - melted - only 25C here yesterday, but felt a lot more - no breeze :(
I'd 'donated' the Dane's battery to this, as I didn't have a.n.other suitably sized one .. had ordered a new one from Tayna, last Sunday night and damn me if it hadn't been delivered Monday, whilst we were out on Pam's retail therapy session - service second to none - packed within an inch of its life - really can not fault Tayna all round :cool:(y)💯%
