well I'm glad I got this lot done yesterday - before it lashed down

less than a fortnight since the lower bits got 'Daned' but still produced a lorragrass -- collector full off the upper bit and off the lawn too ... it is certainly growing ATM
early start this morning, shuttling the girls about to schools, after not the greatest night's sleep and before i could get going it absolutely lashed it down - - so had a bit of a nap to catch up

had stopped by lunchtime and although forecast to be more of the same this afters, it's been pretty decent, so ...

first chance I've had to have a go/look at sorting these new struts
as expected, the body was 30mm shorter than what came off - same stroke though, so cut so 30mm bits of 25mm round and put a hole through the middle of 'em for a 10mm thread

then cut a bit of s/steel stud to 38mm

and got the first one together

perfect fit with the engine clover up to it's 'fullest extent' to catch the support bar -- knocked the second one together and got that in position too

then it was crunch time - would they work ?
oh yes

that's where it opens to without assistance and getting it fully up is no longer the battle it's been since owning her and especially since the second unit died recently -- now have to pull it down to close it

wonder how long they'll last

friend dropped this off this afters, having been told of a recent incident - not quite what I'd have chosen but'll do for now

Pam looked out the utility window, Sunday fore last and there's a kid on our driveway with a silenced air rifle shooting at the pheasants.
by the time she'd found me and told me he'd disappeared off down the drive, so jumped in the car and shot off after him - he hadn't gotten far - was half way down our drive, pheasant in hand.
Pulled up in front of him, jumped out and asked him WTF he thought he was doing?
"
I've got permission to be here shooting "
"
no you ***ing haven't - your in my garden - look around you at the mown grounds and the name sign on the gate at the end of the drive should give you a clue. What's more these pheasants are hand reared and will come to you .. not exactly 'sport' is it ? It's also closed season - they're breeding and sitting ... the owners of the fields around us would not have given you permission to be here - they don't even bring their dogs out here ATM, so's not to disturb the birds .. WTF are you from and who are you "
little b***ard was real cagey now, wouldn't give me more than
" Abergavenny " or a name - told him there are no public footpaths/rights of way round here for a good three miles, he'd best **** off 'fore I call the law and I would if I saw him anywhere near here again !!
Damn me Pam's coming down the drive with one of her mates in her car a couple of days later and he's back with one of his mates and a bloody spaniel - got here and told me and I shot off in the car up the drive - they'd vanished, but they'd had the cheek to park their 'droid-mobile' at the top of the drive - Little Toyota with the tax and test out on the 1st June

- will be missing a wheel if I see it again
one of the 'horsey girls', up at the barn (who knows just about everyone, including most of the local scumbags), got on the case and had him tracked down in less than a day - gave him a load of abuse on FB and I'll be surprised if he shows his face again

Gail has a 'formidable rep.' for dealing with ar8e holes

.... transpires that this kid is 99% likely to be the son of new neighbours down the road, from the top of our shared drive, so he's not started well
Spoke to the owner of the fields around us a day or two later, to check he'd not OK-ed anyone (they never allow anyone out here) and Phil says if I catch him again, hold onto the little b***ard, 'til he gets out here!!

If I see him again he'll lose his gun and'll need to bring the police with him to get it back, once he's explained to them why I have it

that's the most recent 'episode/incident', but we're getting more and more 'strangers' wandering down our private shared drive and the in the fields around us .. have challenged a couple of ppl rubber necking over the hedge lines surrounding me patch in the last few weeks - ought to keep a 'bang stick', locked in me tool box, to put a couple in the air - would be as secure in there as in their normal home

might deter interest
