that was my thoughts on a sealed, closed polytunnel with over half a tonne of sand bags holding it down to the planet .. it still ended up in the field next door one very gusty night .. 's why I made it the base frame - know where you're coming from, but that's 500 quidsworth of materials 'fore you even start
have been considering a slide out roof off the top of the boxes for a while, but same issue .. material costs for summat that's only supposedly temporary

wanted to get some sort of coverage on the bits I'd had to play about with on the Tico and also had to deal with the case drain union which wasn't in the greatest of states - just rotating - only tapered adaptor I had was a used one, but it had to do and wound in well
coat of Firwood's Pewter - real quick drying - keep the rust at bay
then wrestled the Tico into its new home
dug out some hoses ( these run my BIG grab usually) and had to play about a while with available fittings, 'til i managed to find enough to get it sorted - was well happy to find some 1/2" ISO A males - thought I was stuck with the 'stack' I'd originally assembled
this morning was a 'kid morning' in town, while Vicki had her hair cut .. then deliver them later to have theirs done too, so again not a lot achieved today ..... I did however manage to get this sorted when we got back
having lifted it down off the bench I made the elementary mistake of forgetting to add a case drain line, 'fore giving it a little oil ...
fortunately for me I'd left the cap only finger tight ...
the spray was 'considerable' though ..
so after i'd cleaned that up and wiped it all off the winch cradle frame
I went and found my breaker T line adaptor, I made/cobbled/assembled from available bits, some time ago for the fork mast's single acting set up -- and cobbled up a temp. line for that to meet the case drain union
and gave it a little more oil - winch ran sweet and a lot faster than little jake's 1/4" lines could achieve ...
will have to see if I can hunt out a 3m, 3/8" line to replace the cobble to the 1" FF QC, T line..
got a spare inch male to go on the end of it ...
save using the fork mast 'cobble' / adaptor, to get the single acting mast back down, once you've oiled it up -- connect the second side of the service to tank works real well -

me box of 40mil.s arrived yesterday lunchtime so swapped them out with the temporary ones before Serge, my genny mate arrived with his missus for the afternoon, 'fore going out for some scoff down the village at tea time.
Have had better steak, ale and mushroom pies ..
the place has changed hands recently though
.. then rejigged the case drain line to an FF QC and put all the lines away in the dry ... crap night forecast
expecting it to be a pretty grim day this morning, so not much anticipation of doing a lot, but was dry 'til 2-ish and then only relatively light and warm with it .... rian didn't stop play 'til we'd finished
emptied the two remaining cage baskets of nice dry firewood into the little Countax trailer and ferried it back and forth to the wood shed

turned into a proper grey ol' day
cages emptied, she thought we'd finished ..... er no !
got two more bags sat yet
tried to get 'em both on but had to come back for #2
over hanging the tailboard too much and wasn't confident it'd all get there, so discretion ruled and did two trips

kids are back in school, the weather's been cr*p and all sorts of other tish needed dealing with so .. not a lot done ... and in the odd times we have managed the odd dry hour outside the garden's needed some sorting ready for - you know what.

in between several quite long phone calls -- Vicki got a letter from LA last week - demanding they trim their hedge (which we've already done recently), but they wanted more off --
been trying to get hold of the 'author' for the last five working days for an explanation of exactly what they want doing?? ..
actually returned my multiple calls/ansafone messages today - thought he'd never stop talking ...
no sooner finished with him and got another jobsworth on asking why I'd not responded to his email??? --

so as said, been a slow day on the progress front .. getting these lugs in the right spot, right centres and completely aligned after I'd knocked out the frames was 'time consuming'
then had to ream the paint out of the holes and get the pins free sliding
for a trial fit
#1 done and went on fine
#2 went a bit quicker with 'the drop on it and slipped in sweet as ....
had the third frame assembled, but grub time got in the way of further progress ...
went back to it after tea, only to be interrupted by yet another looooooooong phone call .. which got curtailed when me battery died hardly surprising the amount of use it's had today
so much for getting the third one done .. job for anon ... and it's a double yoker ... 8 holes to align .. gonna be Fun - wiv a big eff
got to be in town for 08.00 in the morning, take Harper to nursery, in town and then back out here, with Clara to take her to school for 09.00 ...
Vicki's school have changed their hours, so has to be in 20 min.s earlier now, but does get to 'finish' (technically) at 15.00 - never happens that way though
then pick up Clara at 15.15 and back to town for her swimming lessons at half four .. Tuesday's a busy day ... MIGHT get a chance at #3, but I doubt it - realistically - we'll see??

forgot to say the other night, had a bit of a suss out for the feasibility of a.n.other box of the 20ft variety, as discussed in the container thread recently ...
had a bit of a measure up and gave some thought to relocating/rearranging where stuff is parked
mark on the floor for L/H front corner (as you face it)... t'other is behind the corner of the genny - 24ft, parallel from the fronts of my other three ... would /(will) go a treat
also had a juggle of me trailers ... have been wanting to move the 6t tipper I had off Ollie Kitchin for a while, as there was a huge pile of dead leaves under it in need of being despatched, before this season's 'arrive'

me 10 x 5 came in at 625 once you deduct two spares and my circa 80kgs off there - had to stand on the mudguard to get the shot of the dynamometer
and the little 8x4 was 250kgs including the spare
then tucked 'em all away out the way, but easily accessible to get at when required
.. gonna have to make inroads into losing those tyres
also knocked a little lift beam out for .....
I can't get it off the floor and lifted it into the box with the ' Drema a week or two ago in a couple of slings .. this'll make lumping it about a bit easier hopefully -- I'll weigh it some time out of interest .. took three of us to get it in the boot of the Kia, when it came home.

this took some getting right/perfectly bang on square/parallel/ true .... lots of squares, careful measuring, cutting and setting out
and allowing for variations in material straightness/accuracy ...
but got there quietly
plus a lot of calculating spacings/centres
for load transferral / distribution
had a day off, last Saturday for a shopping trip - co-ordinated by FB MP . Chippenham first for these ...
5t x 6fts, with the bonus of a.n.other carriage ... Stonehouse for the inclinable indexing / dividing head that @Rob65 had already spotted
and Cheltenham for a lovely 4 jaw for me Harrison ...
6 hrs and 154 miles later, was unloading them, 'fore tea ..... would've been 5 hrs if i hadn't got caught up in Usk show's traffic queues, which they'd 'stacked' out in all the country lanes from Raglan down to Usk - unbelievable - my route into England is always Raglan, Devauden, Itton, Chepstow and over the old bridge ... so much shorter than the others -- and quieter - normally
anyway ... 400kgs of six footers, got 'offed' 'fore tea and t'other bits stashed away for anon ....
when i collected the forks, I'd asked the guy if we could slip them off the carriage to lay 'em down and the carriage flat, in the trailer .. in fairness he'd made a bit of an effort -- in vain -- soon became apparent the next morning as to why he'd sold them ..
fork latches snapped and obviously didn't have the tech/nouse/whatever to sort it, to separate/adjust their positions ...
hour later and some hole cleaning, they were out and I'd gotten it in bits and'd given most of the rack a bit of a clean up of all the burrs
then it was back to ......
and a trial fit, 'fore dealing with the lateral stiffening ....
and I'm out of pix
