I was going to drop the push fit bomb 💣😆😆
so .. am I missing yet another system? - "push fit" .. maybe like Hep2o for copper?:unsure:

Some where I actually have some of those pressfit tools, acquired a long time ago and IIRC up to 3.5" or 4" ... must have a look see where I've stashed them? ..... don't think I'd've gotten them in behind the bath though

Push fit is for copper as well. Polyplumb is my least disliked brand .
We have about 7 press tools. Oldest ones are over 10 years old. It’s quicker and safer and more reliable than solder joints. Less flux and mess in the pipes so less flushing required . Been around for a long time in commercial. We were early uptake on domestic in 2009. Most lads have them now.

so is it just a push on fit or does that have to be crimped too??

Push fit can be plastic or metal fittings for plastic or metal pipe and relies on a SS grab ring and O-Ring. Pressfit is for metal or composite pipework and relies on an O ring that is Compressed onto the pipe with a pressing tool (kinda like a hydraulic crimping tool)

Hep2o or Speedfit are two of the popular brands. Literally just pushes onto copper or plastic pipework.
if we use any its hep ,it seems to grip on well, but pipe still must be clean and cut prefferbly with pipe cutter ,no ragged edge

I’ve done some stainless pressfit work at Chatsworth House which is a local estate. No hot works allowed.
They’ve done some 4” stainless and copper pipe work with the clamps at ferodo impressive stuff.

the crimps I have somewhere came from the pharmaceutical place I cleared out years ago ... some of their plumbing was 6" with crimped joints ... trying to remember the name of the tools IIRC they're green and have interchangeable jaws something like these from memory ........ name just came to me - Rothenberger ... damned if I can remember where I put them though ... must be there somewhere?

@V8Druid if it’s no hassle could you post some pics and info of your tilty build?
:eek::eek: OMG .... that's a monster witter :LOL: .....
no problem, but'd hate to bore the t*ts off folks  :)
do you want chapter and verse, or anything specific @Thomas7740 ?? ;) .... there is a loooooooooooooooot of it :giggle:
never got a reply to this and just tripped over it looking for summat else ...... does the request still stand @Thomas7740 ? ... as said - there's a lot of it and'll need it's own thread :giggle:

Get it posted ! It’s some achievement and gives a great insight into what’s involved in them . I bet if all of us that have them on the forum combined all our likes and dislikes of them someone or some manufacturer would be able to build the best tiltrotator yet .

LOL ... would be some product survey that

As for a Druidfab VA-r ... it'd be interesting re-visiting a lot of it .........
I've recently found a rotary actuator for sale, at a not too excessive cost and am considering acquiring it for a new top half for it - NOX style :unsure::)
a run through'd highlight possible improvements too ;)

That’s what I mean . How often do manufacturers of plant frustratingly repeat bad design in new models because they never consulted properly the users of the older models .
I bet we could come up with a priority list we could all vote on when it comes to tilt rotators .
A list of individual issues then we prioritise them in order of importance to us . Numero uno for me , build height !

back on the plumbing subject .....
rudely awoken IIRC Monday morning - " Gra the boiler's making a funny noise! " ..
has been noisier than usual for a week or two and I've been waiting for it to 'talk' to me - 's only been 'whispering' so far ...
sure enough it was making " A funny noise " ...
hadn't been on all night and was stone cold ..
let it warm up and it went back to 'whispering' and I'm still trying to decide which 'bit' is doing it ??
anyway ...
came back from picking Clara up from school yesterday and greeted by " boiler was making such a loud noise I turned it off on the thermo "

 top marks for using the thermo to shut it down, rather than killing it at the mains, mid flight. (y) ...
so set it going again and it's now talking properly ..
either a motor bearing or my favorite - the fuel pump bearings - howling ..
give it ten to warm up and it's just noisier than usual ...
so called HRPC/Plumb Centre/Wolselys in Hereford with a part number to see if they had any - three in stock but allocated -- three more in at 7.30 in the morning / today ...
got my name put on one of them and was gonna slip up there and grab it.

Asked Pam if she either wanted to come/wanted anything collecting / me to hit Tescos ..
nah, leave it 'til next week ...
all changed this morning
Dropped her at Tescos and went round to their place - right next door to Russel's old yard he now rents out, so can get there on autopilot.
120 quid later I have the said item in me mitts and heading back to Tescos ...
filled the Kia while I was there - 'nother 80 quid ....
went in and eventually found Pam, with an already bursting trolley " Thought you only wanted a few bits? " ....
had finally adopted my strategy of 'We're/I'm here, don't p*ss about - hit it' and she did .....
'nother 300 quid later, loaded and on the way home ....
been a 'kin expensive day.
Gonna let yon boiler keep on talking for a day or two, but 90% sure it's the pump's bearings ..
been pumping kero for nigh on 15 years

Motor's close to 200 quid - but in stock
