nice bit of rubber tube sleeving to cover the joint and the job was a good un

re-assembled it all ....

and gap-ed the points (anyone old enough to remember what they are ) dropped the flywheel back on, keyed it up and dogged it down for a try for a spark .. YAY!! first spin up ...
stuck it all back together, litre of motion lotion in't tank and it went first flick .... which is pretty miraculous for a Briggs an' Scrap 'em .... no idea how old this little Mountfield is, but it must be catching the Weller up pretty quick ... I'd say it's early 70's if not older !

Anyway ... let it warm up, gave it a bit of a tune and it sat on the bench happily ticking over ..... put, put, put, put .... was going to get it down off there in the morning .. 'til Pam just reminded me, I got to go back to The Heath first thing, for some more blood tests ..... has to be early as they're flying them to Switzerland as soon as they get 'em packed .... did offer to go over and they could have 'em 'fresh out the arm', if they'd like, but the answer was NO!

Some 'real specialist' lab out there's gonna analyze my metabolic rate from 'em (??) to decide whether I can try their new treatment regime ... Eliglustat TABLETS !!
no more being tied to the fridge, or a weekly infusion bag, or getting stabbed by Pam, of a Monday , if it's a successful analysis!! .... cross yer fingers

it's got neatly radiused ends Mart so unless it's a sample I doubt it .... there's a name logo in it too ....

which I've not googled yet .... plus one hole through .....

Guessing some sort of jig/tool fixture, amongst a few other things
hopefully some one will have come across one .... 'T ain't often I am totally lost/not seen summat before ..... it looks like it could be relatively expensive for what it is and a serious extrusion

presumably you use a ball ended hex wrench to adjust the hold down bolt/nut, through the side hole, at an angle??

hauled yon go kart out of the box yesterday evening .....

and relocated it to some freshly created space in't mower shed, for now ......

I wanted to get me remaining three sliding racks out the box to finish 'em off and fit the decks to them, so's I can use them and create some more floor space in the one, by getting stuff up off the floor ....

and an old Villiers I have had sat for a serious number of years ... have quite a few smaller stationary Villiers motors,

including a not so small single diesel D270 ... quite a rare animal by all accounts .... like this one

so .... got them out and up on a slider ....

after I'd gotten the three out to finish off ....
Number one on't bench ...

and all the deck support lips installed ..... shot that one back in out the way on't forks ... and grabbed the next one ...

has taken a good few hours to get that lot sorted today .... and some serious humping .... some of it had been tucked into corners and took some juggling out on me own !! Those 'little motors ain't so little when yer's wrestling the damned things ' ..... the two Z1000 engines beat me ... they'll have to stay put for now

Was just about dark ... at 8.30 this evening, when I'd finished the second one and it stayed put for tonight ... Load number one tomorrow with a few other bits and bobs I want up out the way .... after I've cut the deck for it and dropped it in ... Sunday or not ..... they'm in for a noisy day tomorrow ..... between sawing the boards to size and lifting it all in/out/in .. it's all gonna need forks ... might have to put the VA-r on too .... can't get square on and it's been a faff at an angle today ... can load the decks on the floor then and just lift 'em in complete onto the tracks .. as it's intended to be used

forgot to say earlier ..... 25C in the shade at 11 this morning ..... opened up the tool box and 39.8C in there after the sun'd been on it since sun up ... like a bloody sauna in there

looked everywhere for Sparty last night, after I'd shifted said go kart and locked up. Was about to start opening everything up again, when I spotted him sat on one of the stone pallets ...

totally engrossed .... he'd ignored me calling him ...

touched him and he turned and gave me a 'sod off' look ..." I'm mousing " ......... sat there an hour or more

Last weekend was rather productive however. I finally got round to installing the bit of ethernet cable between my office and the loft switches (I'd previously run Cat5 from the living room on the opposite side of the house to the attic, for the data network and the HDMI network, and an additional cat5 for the front door CCTV Camera).

Luckily the people who installed the heating pipework marked out where it ran, so I avoided drilling any holes in the heating pipework by about a mil. Dropped in the hard floor plastic plugs which are dead handy at blanking the hole off (the holesaw cuts the hole all the way through, then rebates a lip into the wood for a plastic disc to drop into and be retained.

With that in place, and me spurred on, I then dropped two more Cat5's into the bedroom, one for the HDMI network and one for USB (mouse for the CCTV), and a further Cat5 into the living room. A long figure of 8 lead later and we now have a TV in the kitchen!

Just needs a bit of attention, I've put back in the plug of cornice and that needs filling and a quick paint.

I then finally got rid of the Cat5 running on the floor in the hall to the modem, it's been there since we moved in, and helen intermittently kicks it and drops the interwebs off. I took the opportunity to put another cable in for the Net2 on the front door, so I can now update that easily (we have an electronic strike on the front door, dead handy too)



This stuff has just gone in using plastic trunking, it'll do until we next do a serious re-decoration and I can bury them underneath the plasterboard.

Now just need to get some Cat5 in to below the stairs...

The HDMI Network allows us to view any HDMI source connected to the matrix on any telly, so a satellite box in the attic will feed all rooms. Dead handy, as you can have the same thing showing in sync in the kitchen & living room, or decide to go upstairs in the ad break and just switch tellys. Plus the CCTV is viewable from them all as well.

Oh and my ongoing smart-home install is continuing. The bedroom now has a Sonoff Dual in the ceiling controlling the ceiling light and ceiling fan. Alexa can control both of these. My lamp currently has a smart plug (which will be replaced with a Sonoff Basic soon) which again is controlled by Alexa. I've just bought a Sonoff T1 to play with, so will be replacing some of the light switches with those as well, and configuring them to work together for the hallway and kitchen (which have multiple switches).

It's all going to get even more clever when my Nest Thermostat arrives!

Got called up by $ork-1 the other day - having problems with phones and their new IT guy (who replaced the guy who replaced me) was off on a cruise and uncontactable! Went in and programmed up a BCM for them in exchange for the above Nest!

sounds like a deal then ........ wish i had your sort of knowledge on all the new 'techy stuff' ...... and would love to be able to 'open the bonnet' on me 'puter .... I'm ok with 240 and 3ph though ....... sounds like your house is going to be future proofed, system wise .... for at least 6 months, 'til the latest gizmo comes out next

Haven't seen that points set-up for ages - pre 1968. If you want to date the engine have a look at the engine cowling just above the spark plug and you may find the words Model, Type and Code stamped into it . Under each word will be some numbers. If the number under Code starts 68 , its 1968 , then the others give the month and day. Guessing that the Model code will start with 17 or 25 and the points were known as Style 1 needing a 30 thou gap unlike the later ones which were all 20 thou up until they went electronic.

If you want to date the engine have a look at the engine cowling just above the spark plug and you may find the words Model, Type and Code stamped into it . Under each word will be some numbers. If the number under Code starts 68 , its 1968 , then the others give the month and day. Thanks Angus ..... I'll have a look .... have always found that a 15 thou gap is absolutely useless on it and IIRC have it set at circa 25 thou ...... I'll give it a tad more ... the next time said flywheel has to come off...
only motor I've ever seen with an ali woodruff key ... have really got to dog it down or it'll split the key and I'm clean out of spares

The Sonoff stuff is a piece of pish. Get yourself a basic - 240v l+n in, same out. Chop out the lamp switch and wire in place.

Install app on phone. Hold down button when prompted and it will pair up. Bing you can now control from your phone!

Install Alexa, enable the skill and she will find it. Tell Alexa it's a light and now you can say "Alexa turn the lights on". It's great!
