Yeah, popped across from Liverpool last night and slept in the van on the harbour side in Peel.

19deg c here earlier. After having 2.510m rise in river on Friday.
I do think the newly installed flood defence has backfired significantly tho. As at that my yard would be 2ft6 in water but this time round it wasn't and the defence made to stop it flooding our local football place and town hall ended up even worse than ever before.

We stopped in Peel as you can just park up/sleep in the van with no hassle, and there is a pub with a brilliant pizza oven (the Black Dog) on the harbour.
There are also fishing trips from Peel but I have no first-hand experience of them.

This boat (Gemini) goes from Port St Mary - everything included. Really good trip, been a couple of times with them now.

Did it once on the plane was a fun trip in serious wind. Crazy really can see it no probs on clear day from up the hill here.

We went across in the van to watch a gig a few weeks ago and all the return ferries were cancelled because of the weather, so we had to abandon the van and fly back in some nasty windy conditions. Ended up being the most expensive night out I’ve ever had!Thanks, good info, that's on the list

No, but ended up on it eventually bringing the van back a couple of weeks ago. It’s mega, like a cruise ship!

Yes exactly that, but generally that's never understood or if it is its totally disregarded.
In this instance I'd say it definitely backfired as what it was designed to save it definitely didn't
There's an area further up steam known for flooding and for as long as I can remember they have 'promised it'll never happen again' ....until next time.

well today did not go as planned ..... were going to do one of our major food shops - usually do it 3 weekly - but were gonna go to Hereford (a) for a change, (b) much better selection of shops, (c) no ****ing 20mph limits .... that was 'til Pam got up feeling dog rough ... has had a very nasty cough for a couple of weeks - barking like a dog - but really wasn't up to 'an expedition' today and has spent it 'chilling', which I've been telling her to do for weeks - won't sit still !!
so - dry here this morning and forecast some sun this afters, so decided to have a crack at summat I've been wanting to get done (and not been up to) for months.
Dragged the sheets off me steel pile to haul some sections out .. might as well have not been there, or might even have been better without them ... not happy with the state of me pile ... don't think it'd have gotten as rusty sat in the rain
anyway .... sod all I can do about it now, other than clean it off as I use it
sorted the genny and a lead to the saw and got organised to deal with me cut list
Lopped all the 602 bits first
then started on the 502 and 75 x 50 .... having planned me 'nesting', was well happy with the O/cuts off three lengths of 502 ......
got it all cut
then spent sooooome time on all the little bits, cleaning and de-burring
then turned my attention to getting some of the longer bits, looking more like they should .... got a dozen done and ran out of light at ten past six, so thought I'd better lock up, call it a day ... and see how Pam was ...(she was OK when we had some lunch 'bout half two - a lot improved after a 'lazy' day.)
Aldi's little Ferrex 5" hasn't stopped all afternoon with a couple of 40 grit flap discs ... batteries lasting about 90 min.s a throw, on continuously virtually ... got quite a few, but could easily have cycled on two - they'll charge in 30-40 min.s
a lot quieter than a corded job too
Kids day again tomorrow - both for brekky, at 7.45, plus Clara to/from school, Harper all day, then three hours of Clara after school, feed 'em tea, before getting collected after six .. a.n.other long day ... so won't be doing anything to me steel ..
Friday looks favourable, weather -wise, but depending on Pam, may be shot to sh1t ..... otherwise I might get this little lot put together

guy I know who used to build chicken sheds did that to get around planning .... as long as they were mobile and moved a foot a year he got around it. No Idea how he sealed them to the floor though. Currently doing life in Caerdiff nick for strangling his bit on the side
Another guy put an old railway guards van in his garden and the wheels had to do one full revolution a year to avoid planning, so laid an extra 8ft of track that it sat on and shunts it from one end to the other ... planning actually comes out and checks he has regularly
