actually got a couple of hours to mesenn this afters :giggle: .....
and it was dry, little wind and a bearable temp. for a change ....
so made a start on Vin's S60 for the HPX grab he had off Alex a while ago, that's been sat here since.
Looked up the dim.s in me list of ctr.s for mounts and set them out ..
then the set out for the cheeks and wrestled the damned thing indoors ..
I am deffo getting old ...:(
48kgs took some getting up to chest height to get the bugger on the drill table  and feeling it this evening.

piloted the holes, then set about it with a 17mm
WP_20230306_16_59_24_Pro.jpg WP_20230306_17_15_48_Pro.jpg
before wrestling it back out onto the bench

two fixing options ... four square or six on a PCD, so'll be usable on several options of att.
gonna need lil. Jake's assistance with this, once I start adding bits ... not gonna be tomorrow though - Kids from 07.45 ... Clara to/from school, then us and Harper, all day 'til six ... Tues./Thurs. are long days
see if I can get it together Wednesday, hopefully --- but it's 'sposed to snow Wed.s, Thurs. and Saturday :( .... pretty crap for a good week BTL,s  .. gotten used to this dry weather .. just a pity it's not been a bit warmer/less windy

All that gear and your mauling stuff on to a bench
wasn't the bench that was the issue Dyl ... was the hump up to chest height in me box to get it on the drill table ... should've gotten the mag drill out and done it on the bench ... 's half the weight , or less
just don't appreciate that I shouldn't/can't do it any more ...... without consequences  ........ have always just gotten on and done it

well after a 3 week wait (four actually, since I paid for it), I took the new sled in for its tow bar this morning.
Courtesy car was an identical Sportage with 700 miles less on the clock at 1,633 ... screen display price in the foot well, was four grand more than I paid for mine, including me tow bar haggling and proper kicking I gave Rhodri, the salesman :giggle: ..in a month FFS !! made me feel a bit better about what it'd cost TBH :giggle:

they rang me at four, said they'd just got to give it a wash off and I could pick it up (I put the little pressure wash over it Saturday and it's minging again - lanes're grim ATM)
arrive to chaos - their site is way too small for their stock and eventually juggled the loaner into a spot out the way ... looked at mine, thought odd - still minging .. looked the back end, expecting to see a ball - Nada !!:unsure::unsure:
went and found 'the boy', dropped the loaner's key a reception and said to Rhodri ... "
you sure your blokes have fitted my bar to the right car? .... there's nowt sticking out the back of mine"
" you are kidding me ??":(
"come and have a look"
"fu*k .. I'll go have a word in the workshops now "

we both knew I'd ordered/had a deal on a fixed bar 'cos he couldn't get the extra 200 odd quid a removable one'd cost, sanctioned in me deal :giggle: and both expected to see just that sticking out the back.
When he came back he said they'd been sent a removable one --'cos they presumably had no fixed in stock :love: ...

result :giggle::giggle::giggle:(y)

don't you know I will (y)(y)....
bloke who fitted it struggled ......
said it'd gone in a POP earlier, to which I said it could have summat to do with it being at chest level on the ramp, rather than on yer knees on the floor, trying to show the customer how easy it is :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ... believe me LL it WILL be attached .. will probably spend more time in situ, than in the boot .. reverse camera or not, you can't beat bump stop parking, for getting yer nose all the way in :giggle::giggle:

And add copious amounts of grease. I've only ever tried fitting land rover ones that where seized and stiff and you couldn't tell if the ball bearings had actually fully worked.

does this look anything like any other detachable anyone's seen .. I.e. is there a 'standard' for the spigot or unique design to each manufacturer?
pull hand wheel out and rotate clockwise 'til it latches and releases 3 ball bearings from their locations ... push into socket and release hand wheel to lock balls in place .. has a fourth lower down t'other side for orientation .. did take a pic of the other side, but has vanished off me phone
the red 'cap' is a key to lock the rotation once inserted
'nother one of these is gonna take some finding, cheap, for modifying to accept a jaw/whatever on 3.5" ctr.s mounting plate.

cut the ball off me P38's and plated that up decades ago, with a 3 position plate ... 's the last time I removed it from the car
WP_20210729_16_45_48_Pro redact 2.jpg

me disco never had a tow bar on it 'fore I bought it and built one with a slider as an integral part of the bar .. will have to get a pic.

That looks like a removable westfalia one I fitted on my old van. Rarely towed with it but found it was a little low for my IW.

well that's spoilt my Sunday afternoon
Pam wandered down the letter box earlier, see if there was anything in it ...
been looking for weeks to try and find out what the council tax's gone up by in Monmouthshire? ....
not been able to find it anywhere on line - as usual - like to keep it to them selves, 'til the bills go out

you guessed what was in the box ...
+6.7% FFS .. 🤬🤬
£3264.12 PA .... no wonder we've not been able to find it anywhere ... they'll have had to apply for that level of increase - (over 5%)
get so little back for it -

random bin collection fortnightly (provided we transport it to the top of the drive - and bring it back when they don't turn up)
no street lighting,
no road sweeping (roads are a bloody mess round here),
no road maintenance (have 4" deep potholes all the way up here, whichever route you choose),
Plod will NEVER attend here (unless you tell 'em you'll shoot 'em - quick enough then)
150 odd quid precept for the local com. council -- the wrong one - we ain't in the one we've been charged for o_Oo_O

what have I missed?? whatever it is we won't get it
Taking the ****ing piss
