Its the codge at and tack bits on attitude rather than start afresh attitude that's LR's problem always has been and still is to some extent. Easy to blame an outsider like lucas but they could have used someone else

Yep, but got no wheels ... not sorted the P38's EAS fault yet and Pam had the Golf, so he came and picked me up.

had a new boiler to install at his Bro.'s house. (big place) and there was a support leg in the way ... had a suss on how to overcome it, but wanted some welds that were going to hold the weight .... could I spare him an hour or two to 'deal' with it?

so .... made up 'the diversion' and got it welded in place, 'fore sticking a bottle jack in place, in the gap, to cut the original out and avoid having a thin disc become multiple shards of a thin disc !!!!!!! when said upright got the chop!

worked a treat and reckon it dropped maybe 2mm when I took the bottle jack out, which was max.ed out spreading an 'imovable gap' which hopped up when I pierced and severed the upright with the disc, instead of trapping it and destroying it

so after getting that sorted it was, "while you're here, would you mind giving me a hand to get the new boiler in position ? "

the yellow foam covered tank to the right is a 20,000ltr thermal store

took a bit of juggling to get it lined up under the original flue and after removing the header tank feed, managed to get it 'bang on', in spot ... the 'diversion' in the upright fitted beautifully around a protrusion at the back of the new beast and all is ready for the plumber, to come and install the new/modified 2.5" plumbing to reconnect it to the system.
this thing'll take wood by the pallet load
home in time for tea

decent day after a chilly start ... dry enough to give the green stuff a hair cut .... emptied the post box as I was down the end of the drive on the Dane and found a 'mystery' package in't box ....
have absolutely no idea what these are (other than, at a guess, trim studs - no idea on the metal 'post') or WTF they've come from? Any of you guys sent me 'em????

address label ... on jiffy bag, wrapped in what looked like cling film ?

total mystery as to where they came from or what they're for

local 'hedge carpenters' been at the hedge in the lane at the top of our drive ..... left it in a right ****in' state - puncture alley ...

camera doesn't really do it justice ... all the lanes round here been like it for the last few weeks ... main drag was worse still ... like a carpet of HD splinters

decided to unload the trailer of crud from Vicki's place, from back at the end of July, 'fore I went down with the coof .....
these are 9 fairly new perspex/acrylic sheets, sat on top of it all .... they obviously didn't like all the 32+ days we had in August and the sun blazing down on them relentlessly all day ....... never seen sheets go like this before ... don't 'spose it helped, with them all being in a pack ... top one was fine ... took it off to find this mess .... not happy, as could've found a good use for these

they must've gotten some bit hot ... probably the fact they were in a tidy stack and retained some serious heat ... only one any good was on the top

I was trying to think of a member who buys off and recommends L & S , who likes to keep a stock of parts that are likely to fail and who also has stopped using Makita

can only be the fact they were stacked tight ...

wanted to move a 7t bus !! ..... don't ask ... his daughter had bought this old AEC bus some time ago and it needed moving from where it's been stored to a new location some 10 miles closer to her home ... it's T & T- ed, but not been run in a while, so were going to put a large traccy in front of it and haul it !
pity it wasn't 'fore I cleared the yard, as I had all manner of towing adapters, jaws, frames, etc., for hauling dead buses ... used to do it a lot ... but all skipped - didn't think I'd ever need 'em again

so turned up with his daughter, who Ive not seen in some time ... she's grown a bit ... and we dragged said bar out between us, sorted some eye bolts of varying sizes up to inch and an eighth and some suitable shackles ... he nicked my big spare battery and some HD leads and departed.
on the dog again last night ... couldn't get any of the eye bolts to screw into the eye socket on't front of said charabanc, but had managed to unbolt it from the chassis ... could he come back today and see what we could sort ....

Well yon socket was inch ..... BSF odd thread for the purpose - almost always a nice meaty Whitworth thread ... no suitable eye bolts and was going to retap it to 1" Whit, which I have plenty of ..... still left the issue of having to shackle the bar to the eye as the bar is a ring both ends, so suggested a compromise .....

.... made up a mount for a jaw and welded it FIRMLY onto the front of yon socket carrier (which is held to the chassis with 3 no., 7/16" UNF HT bolts) hmmm
I know my bit ain't coming off ... and yes I know that jaw is marked up 3.5t or less, but I'll guarantee it'll out pull 3 x 7/16th bolts ... have a bigger one here some where, but could I bloody find it so ... they'm all set to have another go at shifting it next weekend .. his parting comment to me was ..... " what you doing next weekend? "

Angus @modelman093 always speaks highly of them .. they are good TBF. ... think @doobin also does and is a Mak user (or was, I think) other than that, now't springs instantly to mind .... Oh I think James @Shovelhands is also a Mak fan too ... but thanks for thinking of me ... spare bits're always handy to have sat
